From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

A vintage display from Roger Federer took him past Rafael Nadal into the Wimbledon 2019 final in an eagerly-anticipated first grass court match between the great rivals for 11 years on Friday.

The 40th career meeting between the golden duo with 38 Grand Slam titles between them, swung this way and that before Federer seized control to claim a 7-61-6 6-3 6-4 victory.

World number one and defending champion Novak Djokovic now stands between the 37-year-old Federer, the oldest finalist here since Ken Rosewall in 1974, and a record-equalling ninth Wimbledon title in Sunday's showpiece

*Djokovic 6-2 4-6 2-2 Bautista Agut (40-40)

Djokovic doesn't seem himself at the moment.

From 40-15 to deuce. as Bautista Agut peppers Djokovic's forehand until it cracks.

But in the blink of an eye, Djokovic re-finds his groove!

Two big serves do the trick, the second an ace, and he holds.

You feel as though Bautista Agut really needs to capitalise now, whilst Djokovic isn't playing at his very best....

Who will blink first?

BREAK POINT coming up, as Djokovic takes control at 30-30 and seals it with a smash.

DJOKOVIC BREAKS!

Another exhausting point! But Djokovic again comes forward, and puts the smash away once more!

He lets out a big roar - he knows just how crucial that was!

The world number one, back playing like the world number one!

*Djokovic 6-2 4-6 4-2 Bautista Agut (15-40)

TWO BREAK BACK POINTS for Bautista Agut, as Djokovic shanks a backhand wide!

*Djokovic 6-2 4-6 4-2 Bautista Agut (40-40)

UNBELIEVABLE POINT AT 30-40!

Djokovic saves himself, but only after a rally which must've lasted nearly a minute! He eventually wins it with a backhand winner down the line.

Sensational stuff from both men!

Djokovic 6-2 4-6 5-2 Bautista Agut*

Djokovic holds, and lets out another huge roar upon holding via two big first serves!

Huge. Just huge. A three-game lead now, and Bautista Agut, for all his hard work, will now be serving to stay in the third set!

Pumped.
