From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

A vintage display from Roger Federer took him past Rafael Nadal into the Wimbledon 2019 final in an eagerly-anticipated first grass court match between the great rivals for 11 years on Friday.

The 40th career meeting between the golden duo with 38 Grand Slam titles between them, swung this way and that before Federer seized control to claim a 7-61-6 6-3 6-4 victory.

World number one and defending champion Novak Djokovic now stands between the 37-year-old Federer, the oldest finalist here since Ken Rosewall in 1974, and a record-equalling ninth Wimbledon title in Sunday's showpiece

FEDERER BREAKS!

Incredible point!

Back and forth with both players at the net, cat and mouse, until Federer punches a backhand volley down the line.

Enormous roar from Centre Court!

Nadal 6-7(3) 6-1 1-3 Federer* (0-30)

Will the momentum swing again?

A Nadal winner, and a Federer volley into the net... 0-30.

Nadal 6-7(3) 6-1 1-3 Federer* (15-40)

Oh Roger. A double fault at 15-30... when do you ever see the Swiss maestro do that?

TWO BREAK BACK POINTS...

Nadal 6-7(3) 6-1 1-3 Federer* (40-40)

TWO BREAK POINTS SAVED!

Stunning rally at 30-40, back and forth, side-to-side, baseline to baseline, and Nadal is the one who overhits.

Deuce.

Another BREAK POINT coming up, as Federer nets...

Nadal 6-7(3) 6-1 1-3 Federer* (40-40)

Another BREAK POINT saved, as Nadal nets on the backhand side with Federer at the net.

Nadal 6-7(3) 6-1 1-3 Federer* (ad Federer)

Unreal hitting by both men, but surprisingly again, it's Nadal who breaks down first, sending a forehand wide.

*Nadal 6-7(3) 6-1 1-4 Federer

Federer holds! Just how crucial could that prove to be!

Nadal nets a forehand, and the Swiss has opened up a three-game lead in the third set!

*Nadal 6-7(3) 6-1 1-4 Federer (15-40)

Now it's Nadal who has hit a rough patch - a forehand sails way long.

TWO BREAK POINTS for a double break lead...
