From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

With 30 minutes to go until kick-off, here's a reminder of the teams:

Name and shame time: Billy Vunipola with the drop during the warm-up. He'll want to iron that out of his game pretty quickly, especially with Eddie Jones standing in midfield watching on...
Jones calls in the entire squad and coaching team, and they have a short huddle, before dispersing into a quick mini-game involving the starting XV defending and the rest trying to test them with ball in hand. Obviously, 15 against 8 will only end in one result, but it's worth noting that once again Jones is right behind the defensive line and in the thick of it.
South Africa too are practicing their defence, and you get the idea that the winner today is going to be whoever can impose on their side without the ball. With the ground wet - although the rain has indeed stopped - it's not a day for running, attacking, eye-catching rugby, although that hasn't been the Springboks' mantra for quite some time.
England head in first, 12 minutes before kick-off, and the South Africans follow them in a minute later as final preparations begin to get underway. After the anthems, we'll have a minute's silence to honour yesterday's Armistice Day, and both teams will be wearing poppies on their sleeves today - no armbands, no disputes, none of that Fifa-governed nonsense here.
Courtney Lawes leads out England on his 50th cap as the two sides emerge, and there's a minutes' silence before the anthems get underway.
Both anthems are impeccably served, and we're ready to go here!
