Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

Follow the latest updates live from the final day at the Isle of Man TT as the blue-riband Senior TT takes place to wrap up the week’s action.

A bumper day of racing on Thursday saw Peter Hickman take his win tally to five TT’s as he claimed both the second supersport race and the Superstock TT, the latter in dominant fashion. Michael Dunlop registered his 19th TT victory by winning the Lightweight race with Michael Rutter claiming the spoils in the TT Zero, while the Birchall brothers Ben and Tom claimed seventh consecutive sidecar race.

But today is all about the Senior TT where Hickman will bid to become just the third man to win four TT races in a week, with Dean Harrison, Conor Cummins and Dunlop out to stop him. Follow the live updates below.

What time does it start?

Friday’s Isle of Man TT gets underway at 10am.

How can I follow it?

Races are not shown live from the TT, so the best way to follow the action as it happens is with local radio or The Independent’s live blog throughout the event. Radio coverage is provided by Manx Radio over the fortnight, while live timing is available through the official www.iomttraces.com website.

Schedule

10am: Senior TT

Dunlop Senior TT

Lap 5: Hickman's BMW does not sound good as he rounds the Hairpin at Ramsey, and he short-shifts his way up to the Waterworks in what is a clear sign he's got issues there. The question now must be will he even finish the race?

Harrison leads by 7.877s, and the last thing you want for a sick bike is to tackle the Mountain mile.

Lap 5: Harrison leads by 14.578s at the Bungalow, doubling the lead over the Mountain. Cummins is only 34s off Hickman and at this rate he'll take second place, wnd Dunlop could also take third. Will Hickman pit at the end of the lap?

Lap 5: Hickman doesn't pit and continues onto the final lap, 18.386s off the lead. That's not as much a loss as the last three sectors, and he may just hold on to second if he makes it round. The gap to Cummins is 33.208s as they start the sixth and final lap.
