The opening RST Superbike race was red flagged due to an accident, which claimed the life of rider Daley Mathison. Race leaders Hickman and Dean Harrison had embarked on their third of four laps when the red flags were brought out due to a crash at Snugborough, on the run towards Union Mills early in the lap, which led to the standings at the end of lap two being used to determine the results and award Hickman his third TT victory. It has since been confirmed by Mathison's wife that he died following the accident.
The second race of the day saw the Birchall brothers, Ben and Tom, power to victory with a new race record in the Locate.IM Sider Race 1, and in the final race of the day Johnston clinched his first victory at the TT in the Monster Energy Supersport Race One ahead of James Hillier and Hickman. 10:45am: RST Superbike Race
1pm: Locate.IM Sidecar Race 1
3pm: Lightweight qualifying
3:55pm: TT Zero qualifying
6:30pm: Monster Energy Supersport Race 1
Lap 2: So it looks like a battle between a man whose never won here at the TT in Johnston against one-time winner Hillier, whose victory came in the 2013 lightweight TT. However, Hickman is lurking behind them, and at Glen Helen it's Johnston from Hillier by 3.9s with Hickman a further 0,5s back.
Lap 2: Harrison is past Gary Johnson for fourth, but he needs something special to keep in touch with the front three who have built a slight gap as they head to Ballaugh.
Lap 2: Hillier's had a very strong run to Ballaugh and has cut the lead to 0.656s at the Bridge, with Hickman 4.5s off the pace. Dunlop follows Harrison's suit and jumps ahead of Gary Johnson for fifth with the fastest sector of all, and when it comes to the Northern Irishman, you never know...
Lap 2: As they arrive at Ramsey, there's reports of a few spots of rain out on course and a possible yellow flag too. However, it's as you were out in front, with Johnston maintaining the gap to Hillier and Hickman at the Hairpin.
Lap 2: Harrison leads on the road. He's past Cummins but the Manxman is tucked right into his slipstream as they flash through the Bungalow, though Hillier's had a strong run over the mountain and goes two seconds faster than both of them. But Johnston has gone even faster to add another second onto the lead, with Hickman also taking time out of Hillier there.
Lap 2: It'll be pit stops at the end of the lap, but will it be Johnston, Hillier or Hickman in front?
Lap 2: Due to the weather, the race will be ended after two laps. Can Johnston hold on?
