CHEQUERED FLAG: LEWIS HAMILTON WINS THE BRAZIL GRAND PRIX!

Jack de Menezes13 November 2016 19:11

CHEQUERED FLAG: A faultless drive from Lewis Hamilton to claim his first victory in Brazil and he goes crazy on the radio, and you know this one means a heck of a lot to him. He keeps the title fight alive and trails Nico Rosberg, who finishes second, by 12 points heading to Abu Dhabi. However...

Max Verstappen! The teenager finishes third after restarting in 16th in what was one of the most brilliant displays of wet weather driving we've ever seen. Think Senna at Donington Park in 1993. This young man is already becoming an F1 superstar.

CHEQUERED FLAG: An interesting drivers' cool-down room. Hamilton asks Verstappen what on earth he was doing on inters, and bemoans him no finishing second to take points off Rosberg. Both Rosberg and Verstappen recall their hairy moments, and when Rosberg asks Hamilton how he knew Rosberg had one, he replies "I saw on TV". We know that's not true because he was told on the radio, but Rosberg looks amazed nonetheless.

"You had time to watch TV?!"

Lewis Hamilton

Not too bad, huh. I want to say a big thank you to everyone who came out today because that was a long long race.

I was generally just chilling up front. When it rains it’s usually a good day for me. Everyone was aquaplaning. No mistakes, no issues, no spins. It was interesting to hear how many people were spinning.

Nico Rosberg

It didn’t go my way today with the win but Lewis did a great job. It was difficult out there though and I can live with second.

It was on the limit but yes, they got it just right.

Max Verstappen

It was an incredible race. With the ed flags, and the last straight was really slippery. I managed to overtake Nico and was comfortable and then had a massive moment. We pitted for intermediates but it didn’t work out. Some great overtakes to get back on the podium.

I couldn’t see when I was behind so I had to take different lines.
