Liverpool are interested in Augburg left-back as Philipp Max as back up to Andy Robertson.
Alberto Moreno's move to Villarreal has left Jurgen Klopp light in defence and the highly-rated former Bayern Munich defender is seen as a good replacement.

Recent Barcelona signing, Antoine Griezmann, has admitted it would be ''difficult'' for Barcelona to secure a deal for PSG forward Neymar this transfer window.
Barcelona have been trying to orchestrate a deal which would bring the Brazilian back to the Camp Nou for some time now, but a deal seems to be more difficult than first anticipated.
“We have to get it done first because it is a difficult transfer, but he is a great player," Griezmann said.
“He’s had a couple of injuries but he’s at an incredible level.
“We also have [Ousmane] Dembele, [Philippe] Coutinho and Malcom, who are also important players for us, so let’s hope we can achieve great things with them.
PSG are interested in a potential deal that could see a swap between themselves and Real Madrid for the unwanted Gareth Bale.

Bournemouth are in advanced talks to sign Huddersfield Town midfielder, Phillip Billing, according to Football Insider.
Billing is now in the final year of his contract with The Terriers and is looking for a move away following their relegation last season.
Eddie Howe is reportedly a big admirer of Billing and has sanctioned a move for him as he looks to get a deal done before the window shuts.
An agreement between Arsenal and Crystal Palace for forward Wilfried Zaha is still ''miles off' according to one source involved in the deal.
Arsenal are yet to meet Palace's £80 million valuation, who feel the deal is still a ways off.
Arsenal have most recently suggested a £55 million deal with £10 million dependent on clauses, as well as highly-rated Reiss Nelson on loan as a temporary replacement for Zaha, but the Selhurst Park club have insisted this is nowhere near enough.

Former Chelsea left-back, Filipe Luis, has said that he would like to see Brazil team-mate Neymar back at Barcelona.
"I want him to end up at Barcelona," Luis said.
"Neymar is happy at Barcelona. I want him to have fun and to be by the side of Lionel Messi.
"I hope, for the good of Brazilian football, that Neymar goes back to Barcelona. But I don't think that will be easy."
He also spoke on James Rodriguez, and the recent speculation linking him with a move to his former club, Atletico Madrid.
"To have a player like James at Atletico would be very interesting. That wouldn't be bad at all.
"Whoever comes will be able to help out, but to have James would be spectacular."
The Daily Star are reporting that Chelsea have rejected a £20 million bid from Crystal Palace for defender Reece James.
After selling Aaron Wan Bissaka to Manchester United for £50 million, Palace are on the hunt for a new defender and seem to have targeted the 19-year-old as a replacement.
But Chelsea see their academy product as a prospect for the future and they’re not willing to let him go while they have a transfer ban.
Tottenham defender, Toby Alderweireld has confirmed that he will be playing for the North London club come the start of the season.
The Belgian's £25 million release clause runs out this week, but he says that he is happy staying at Tottenham, despite links to Manchester United and Roma.
''My focus is on Spurs and in my head I will be playing for Spurs this season. I think the manager knows I am committed to the club and the team but you never know in football.
''I was captain against Juventus - so that shows the manager has trust in me and I'm showing the right attitude.
“I try to deliver the job I need to do – I'm happy and that's it. It's not been hard because from day one I do what I need to do.''
