From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Andy Murray and Feliciano Lopez claimed victory in the men’s doubles final at Queen’s Club.

Murray, who wins his first title in over two years, defeated Joe Salisbury and Rajeev Ram 7-6 5-7 10-5 in front of packed crown in west London.

For the Scot, who hadn't played for six months before this week, it is the perfect return to the game while Lopez adds the doubles crown to the singles title which he won earlier in the day.

Lopez & Murray 5-7 Ram & Salisbury

A careless volley from Murray skews into the net cord and opens the door for Ram and Salisbury. Another costly unforced error and it's two break points. They save the first but Lopez can't control the forehand that's zipped into his chest and the ball lands just outside the tramline. We're going to a championship tiebreak!

Championship tiebreak: Lopez & Murray 2-1 Ram & Salisbury

We stay with serve in the opening exchanges. A cute volley from Murray to respond to Ram's opening blow. The tension is ringing around Centre Court at Queen's.

Championship tiebreak: Lopez & Murray 3-3 Ram & Salisbury

Another quick exchange on serve and we switch ends with the final hanging on a knife edge.

Championship tiebreak: Lopez & Murray 6-4 Ram & Salisbury

A fantastic 84 mph bludgeoning forehand return of serve from Lopez and that's the mini-break! And he follows it up with an unstoppable serve. The Spaniard is doing all he can to haul he and Murray over the line.

Championship tiebreak: Lopez & Murray 8-4 Ram & Salisbury

It's fantastic again from Lopez with a deft volley to stretch the advantage. Then Murray hammers a return at Salisbury that opens up the court and Lopez is on hand again to apply the dagger. They're within touching distance now.

Five match points to Murray and Lopez!

GAME, SET AND MATCH

Lopez and Murray 7-6 5-7 10-5 Ram & Salisbury

And they've done it! For Murray, it's a first title in over two years. A remarkable feat after undergoing a career-threatening injury just five months ago. For Lopez, it's an incomprehensible second trophy of the day!

Murray and Lopez are now accepting the trophy. The pair are both very emotional, what a day it's been for the 37-year-old Spaniard who looked so fatigued after winning his gruelling singles final against Gilles Simon. And they lift the trophy together.

Murray:

He was brilliant. There is nothing else to say, amazing win in the singles and even in the end of the match, he just did so, so good.
