The two met at Old Trafford on the reserve day after play was postponed for rain on Tuesday

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. The Kiwis posted 239 following Tuesday's rain delay and looked destined to cruise home when they removed Rohit Sharma, KL Rahul and Virat Kohli with the new ball. But a brilliant fightback from Ravi Jadeja and MS Dhoni saw India roar back into it before Trent Boult's saw off Jadeja before Dhoni was run out in dramatic fashion at the death.
New Zealand will now face either England or Australia in Sunday's showpiece.

Kohli goes to his leg-spinner for the first time. The elongated fingers of Yuzvendra Chahal take hold of the white Kookaburra.
17.0 - New Zealand 66-1, K Williamson 30, H Nicholls 26, Y Chahal 0-5 (0.0)
Intent immediately from Nicholls, down the track towards Chahal, who forces it past him wide of leg-stump, too wide in fact for even the fast hands and feet of M.S. Dhoni, who can't retrieve it. Five wides.
18.0 - New Zealand 69-1, K Williamson 31, H Nicholls 28, Y Chahal 0-8 (1)
Like a war veteran suffering from PTSD, Williamson wears a worried face as he is forced to scramble back at the non-strikers end as a Chahal fumble in his follow-through spins towards the stumps. The ball misses, and Williamson is comfortably back.
OUT! Through the defences of Nicholls and Jadeja has the wicket!
That is very, very good spin bowling. From around the wicket, fizzed into the pitch on a good length, biting on the surface and turning sharply in through the gate as Nicholls props on to the front foot to defend, a bit of extra bounce exaggerating the movement back into the left-hander. A flick of the elbow, a rattling of the stumps, and Nicholls' gritty stay is ended.
H Nicholls b Jadeja 28 (51b 2x4 0x6), New Zealand 69-2 (18.2)
Ross Taylor to the middle. He isn't always the most confident starter against the turning ball, and there's a bit for Jadeja and Chahal to play with.
19.0 - New Zealand 70-2, K Williamson 31, Ross Taylor 1, R Jadeja 1-21 (5)
Another good-un to close from Ravi Jadeja - fizz, turn, bounce, and past a wide-eyed Williamson.
20.0 - New Zealand 73-2, K Williamson 32, R Taylor 2, Y Chahal 0-11 (2)
Chahal rips a leg-break past Williamson's forward defence, and just three come from the spinner's second over, including a wide.
Hardik Pandya rejoins proceedings after some treatment on that hip.
21.0 - New Zealand 74-2, K Williamson 33, R Taylor 2, R Jadeja 1-22 (6)
New Zealand might be light a spinner, you know. The pitch is turning and bouncing for Jadeja, who is a tough man to play in such conditions, with real ability to challenge the pads and stumps of the right hander with wide-of-the-crease spear. Taylor plays out two balls of that ilk to close a one-run over.
22.0 - New Zealand 77-2, K Williamson 34, R Taylor 3, Y Chahal 0-13 (3)
Half-an-appeal from India as Chahal beats Williamson's inside edge with a ball that doesn't turn, but it pitched on middle-and-leg and only slid on from there, and thus missing leg stump.
