The Kiwis posted 239 following Tuesday's rain delay and looked destined to cruise home when they removed Rohit Sharma, KL Rahul and Virat Kohli with the new ball. But a brilliant fightback from Ravi Jadeja and MS Dhoni saw India roar back into it before Trent Boult's saw off Jadeja before Dhoni was run out in dramatic fashion at the death.
New Zealand will now face either England or Australia in Sunday's showpiece.

34.0 - India 114-6, R Jadeja 12, MS Dhoni 18, T Boult 1-26 (8)
That's a nice shot. Boult pushes through a full toss and Dhoni eases it back past the bowler for four, just enough go in it to evade the chasing fielders.
35.0 - India 119-6, R Jadeja 15, MS Dhoni 20, M Santner 2-12 (7)
The speed of Jadeja enables him to get back for two when their looked to only be one, and Dhoni is a more than willing partner for such scuttles. This might the way to play this. There are spaces in which balls can be nudged.
Matt Henry. A wonderful new ball spell, but he'll take a different approach here, one built on cutters, you'd think.
36.0 - India 123-6, R Jadeja 17, MS Dhoni 21, M Henry 3-27 (8)
That's a beaut. A wobbler outside off stump that jags back with the seam fixing, and hustles through the defensive stab of Dhoni, somehow missing everything.
And again. A similar ball and Dhoni is looking to pull from about hip height, half-an-appeal from Latham but that was not a wooden sound. Indeed - from the right pocket it deflected.
37.0 - India 126-6, R Jadeja 19, MS Dhoni 22, M Santner 2-15 (8)
Turn. Wider from Santner, drawing Dhoni into the drive with a bit of drift in to the right hander, and it spins sharply away, past the outside edge and in to the gloves of Tom Latham. Santner's figures remain exceptional.
37.2 - India 130-6, R Jadeja 23, MS Dhoni 22, M Henry 3-31 (8.2)
Oh yes!
Too short from Henry and pulled in some style over midwicket by Jadeja, fully extended arms and underneath it. One bounce, four. The crowd lifts.
38.0 - India 131-6, R Jadeja 24, MS Dhoni 22, M Henry 3-32 (9)
But Henry responds by varying his pace, and those slower balls are devilishly difficult to get away. Five from the over. Nines needed. Without wickets in hand and with limited ball-striking to come this'll be tough.
38.4 - India 140-6, R Jadeja 31, MS Dhoni 23, M Santner 2-24 (8.4)
Skipping down the track and meatily met!
A mighty blow over long-on from Jadeja. He believes.
