ENG 34-3

James Pattinson comes into the attack. He'll be bowling at Ben Stokes. The first ball flies past Stokes' legs at 87 mph.

The second flies off Stokes' bat for four through point as he pushes forward.

GONE! What is happening?

Pattinson sends the third full and wide, Stokes chases it and edges it to Warner at first slip.

ENG 34-4

Here comes Jonny Bairstow. Promoted to number six with England is serious, serious trouble.

For a lot of his career Bairstow has come to the crease with England is some sort of trouble, a few times he's stood up to the pressure and rescued them, he'll need to do it again.

ENG 36-4

No batsmen has made it into double figures yet for England. They are in worse shape than Australia were yesterday and bear in mind these are batting conditions.

Joe Denly inside edges another ball past his stumps for a couple.

Michael Jones23 August 2019 12:25

ENG 37-4

Denly's in the wars. Pattinson hits him on the boot and then the thigh pad. He's battling hard out there but doesn't look comfortable at all.

Michael Jones23 August 2019 12:29

ENG 40-4

Joe Denly plays and misses three balls but edges the last ball of Hazlewood's over away for two runs. He moves to 11* the first of the England batsmen to reach double figures.

Michael Jones23 August 2019 12:35

ENG 40-4

Pattinson continues. He's ramped up it to to the high eighties in terms of pace and forced Jonny Bairstow to defend off the back foot.

So far England's wicketkeeper is up to the task .

Michael Jones23 August 2019 12:37

ENG 40-4

Australia's bowlers have been excellent. They've given the batsmen nothing, their lines have been pinpoint accurate and their lengths have generally been been good. With this England batting line up, just hitting the right areas will get wickets, the batters will get themselves out.

Michael Jones23 August 2019 12:39

ENG 41-4

Hazlewood gives Denly a single and now lines up against Bairstow. He tends to pitch the ball fuller than Pattinson and with Jonny Bairstow vulnerable with you target the stumps he will fancy himself to get another wicket.

Michael Jones23 August 2019 12:42

ENG 45-4

Four runs for Bairstow! He pushes forward and Hazlewood finds the edge, the ball shoots past third slip and finds the boundary at third man.
