Jake Paul vs Tyron Woodley: YouTuber secures controversial split decision victory

YouTube star Jake Paul outpointed UFC champion Tyron Woodley to remain unbeaten and move to 4-0 as a professional boxer.

The favourite going into the fight, Paul was the busier boxer, according to the stats, and managed to convince two of the judges - whose scorecards have now been revealed.

Paul did have to weather a storm in the fourth round when he was stunned by a looping right hand by Woodley.

But in truth, Woodley failed to capitalise and his cautious approach cost him a genuine chance of winning the fight.

Woodley then demanded a rematch once the official decision had been read, with Paul offering him terms centred around a tattoo to roll it back for a second fight.

Here’s all the latest updates and reaction following the big fight and what comes next.

Round Two

Nerves probably played a part in the first round but Jake Paul seemed to grow into it. Woodley comes out with another wayward combo before Paul hits him with an overhead right.

There’s a bit of showboating from Paul as he evades a left hook.

Paul’s staying on the outside and managing to land his combinations. Straight left, straight right, left cross. Smart work from the YouTuber.

Round One

Here we go! Woodley comes out with a wild, wayward right hook and just meets air.

Paul is keeping his distance and staying behind his jab. He keeps a respectful distance before coming close and landing a three-punch combination.

Woodley gets a body shot in towards the end of the round but it’s been a cagey start for both fighters.

Jake Paul’s brother, Logan, lasted all eight rounds against Floyd Mayweather. Can Jake Paul survive, or even beat, a former MMA champion?

Jake Paul vs Tyron Woodley

Jake Paul has won all of his previous three fights by stoppage and swiftly halted Ben Askren, another former UFC fighter, in his last bout.

Tyron Woodley will make his professional boxing debut after a 27-fight MMA career, which included a three-year run as a dominant UFC welterweight champion. The UFC decided to part ways with Woodley following his loss to Vicente Luque in his last appearance in the octagon, a first-round submission loss at UFC 260 this past March.

Woodley, a talented former UFC champion, has seen his MMA career stall in recent years but is expected to pose an entirely different test for the social media superstar in the ring tonight.
