"Major near misses are inspiration" - Open leader Oosthuizen

Collin Morikawa has won The Open after a stunning final round of 66 at Royal St George’s.

The 24-year-old American had started the day one shot adrift of Louis Oosthuizen but surged four clear by the turn thanks to a spectacular front-nine of 32.

Jordan Spieth and Jon Rahm both mounted charges over the course of the back nine, but Morikawa then held his nerve under the most heightened pressure, with tremendous putts at the 10th, 14th and 15th to card a round of 66 and ensure himself of a two-shot victory

Follow all the reaction from what was a thrilling afternoon at Royal St George’s:

THE OPEN 2021: MACINTYRE BACK TO -5

Robert MacIntyre dropped a shot at the par-four 2nd but he has hit back with his second birdie of the day at 4 to move to -5.

Poulter, after back-to-back bogeys at 4 and 5, has since made four birdies without a further error to get to -3 overall, following an impressive birdie putt at 14.

Koepka found the bunker at the par-three 11th but played a stunning shot out of the sand to save par, and he now heads over to the favourable 12th, 13th and 14th.

THE OPEN 2021: KOEPKA SAVES PAR

Koepka ends up being inches away from an astonishing birdie at 10 after playing a sublime shot from the deep rough to within eight feet of the pin. His birdie putt hangs over the lip of the cup but doesn’t drop, so he moves on with his par.

Tony Finau birdies the 13th the move to -5 and now has the top 10 firmly in his sights.

Marcel Siem, Cameron Smith, Justin Harding and Kevin Steelman are the latest players in the chasing pack to get their rounds underway.

THE OPEN 2021: KOEPKA ON THE CHARGE

Koepka starts his back nine with a wayward drive that finds the rough on the left side of the 10th fairway. If the American can escape the trouble here he will be in a good position to attack the favourable holes from 12 to 14, and maybe move to six or seven under for the day.

That’s where McIlroy is now and he follows up his birdie at 12 with another at 13 to move to -1 overall, which is where he started.

THE OPEN 2021: DOUBLE BOGEY, BIRDIE FOR MCILROY

Rory McIlroy closed his front nine with a birdie but ran into some trouble at the par-four 10th, eventually coming away with a double-bogey six. He followed that up with a birdie at 12 to move back to +1 for the day.

Tommy Fleetwood adds his second birdie of the day at 10 to get back to even par for his round, but it is Brooks Koepka who is setting the early pace as he birdies the 9th to move to -7 and reach the turn in 31.

THE OPEN 2021: +5 START FOR ROSE

A triple bogey at the 5th along with bogeys at 2 and 6 have left Justin Rose at +5 for his day through his opening six holes, after starting his round at -3.

Robert MacIntyre has picked up where he left off from Saturday’s 65 by birdieing the opening hole to move to -5. Dustin Johnson has made back-to-back bogeys at 3 and 4 to undo his opening birdie and he is now at -3 overall.

THE OPEN 2021: EAGLE FOR KOEPKA

Hello...? After his birdie at 6, Brooks Koepka sinks a huge eagle putt at the par-five 7th to move to -6 overall and move into the top 10.

Sergio Garcia is the latest player to blast through the 13th and 14th holes. The Spaniard makes back-to-back birdies at the par four and five to move to -4 for the day and for the tournament.

Back at the first tee, defending champion Shane Lowry gets his final round underway alongside Paul Casey, who at -5, is the last British player to start his round.

THE OPEN 2021: SCHAUFFELE CARDS FINAL-ROUND 65

Xander Schauffele matches DeChambeau and Fowler by finishing his week with a five-under-par 65. Six birdies for the American today and a must better performance than his previous two rounds of 71 and 72 on Friday and Saturday - and a further indication for the top players that there are scoring opportunities out there today.

Brooks Koepka gets his scoring underway with 20-foot putt for birdie at the 6th.

THE OPEN 2021: DECHAMBEAU CARDS FINAL-ROUND 65

Bryson DeChambeau finishes a tough week on a high as he completes a final round of 65 to finish -2 overall. It’s the joint-lowest score of the day, along with Rickie Fowler, and is quite the achievement given his struggles on the course earlier this week and the fact the American had never before completed a sub-70 round at the Open. Three birdies in a row from 12 to 14 set him on his way, before he parred the closing four holes to complete a flawless round.

Dustin Johnston gets off to a good start as he birdies the opening hole to move to -5, while Fleetwood has an eagle chance coming up at the par-five 7th.

THE OPEN 2021: MCILROY APPROACHING THE TURN

A birdie opportunity comes and goes for McIlroy at the par-five 7th before the Northern Irishman scrambles to a par at the 8th to stay at +1 for the day.

Tommy Fleetwood and Justin Rose have both dropped a shot over their opening few holes, while Dustin Johnson gets his final round underway at the first tee. Johnson looked to be in contention heading into the weekend but a 73 yesterday rather ended that possibility.

Schauffele makes his sixth birdie of the day at the par-three 16th but the only problem was he had dropped a shot at the previous hole, so he remains at -5 for the day.
