From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference. The 2018 Ryder Cup is underway at Le Golf National. Jim Furyk has selected Tony Finau and Brooks Koepka to lead the US team out in Paris and they will be up against Thomas Bjorn's strong opening pairing of Justin Rose and Jon Rahm.
Rory McIlroy and Thorbjorn Olesen will play match two against Dustin Johnson and Rickie Fowler, Paul Casey and rookie Tyrrell Hatton face Justin Thomas and Jordan Spieth in match three, before the much-anticipated appearance of Tiger Woods alongside the fiery Patrick Reed, who play Francesco Molinari and Tommy Fleetwood.

Who's playing?
Some of the very best golfers on the planet. Tiger Woods leads the American team while new world number one Justin Rose is Europe's leading light.
Who's going to win?
USA Evens
Europe 5/4
Draw 11/1
Rory McIlroy & Ian Poulter def. Bubba Watson & Webb Simpson 4&2
Watson can't get close with the chip and the caps are off. McIlroy and Poulter really brought the best out of each other this afternoon.
Sergio Garcia & Alex Noren def. Phil Mickelson & Bryson DeChambeau 5&4
And another one drops! Mickelson and DeChambeau did well to win the last but they were never going to hold out dormie-six down. They only manage a half at the fourteenth and Garcia claps with the crowd.
Europe now have a 4-3 lead overall and Molinari and Fleetwood are four up on the fourteenth
Tommy Fleetwood & Francesco Molinari (4UP) vs Justin Thomas & Jordan Spieth
They're the only ones still out there but they might not be for long. A win on the fourteenth would end it and the American's find the front bunker.
McIlroy speaking to Sky Sports after his victory:
The guys had a discussion earlier in the week and it was a bit of a last-minute thing that Poults and I were going to play foursomes together so it’s nice to get back out there with him and deliver another point for Europe.
Tommy Fleetwood & Francesco Molinari (4UP) vs Justin Thomas & Jordan Spieth
Spieth misses the birdie putt after Thomas leaves him within range from the bunker. Molinari also missed the green and Fleetwood's chip has left him with about 15 foot for the win..
Tommy Fleetwood & Francesco Molinari def. Justin Thomas & Jordan Spieth 5&4
And Molinari sinks it! It's all over. It's the first time Europe have won all the foursomes matches in a session at the Ryder Cup!
This has been an incredible turnaround for the Europeans. They take a 5-3 lead into tomorrow morning's fourballs and the players are loving it. Jon Rahm's chanting along with the crowd. He will never forget this.
