From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Royal Rumble takes place this Sunday as one of the WWE’s flagship events returns for its 30th edition where 30 Superstars will battle for a world championship shot at WrestleMania 33.

In what is one of the year’s hotly-anticipated shows, the Royal Rumble has provided memorable moments that have gone down in WWE history, from breath-taking stunts to shock returns and surprise winners.

This year’s edition promises to be no different, with the added spice of the Goldberg vs Brock Lesnar rivalry included after both became the first entries into the Royal Rumble back in November following Goldberg’s stunning 89-second victory over Lesnar at Survivor Series.

The pair went face-to-face on the final edition of Raw this week, only to be interrupted by The Undertaker, who will also feature in the main event in the hope of claiming his second Rumble victory, while other names already confirmed include the likes of Chris Jericho, Bray Wyatt and Rumble specialist Kofi Kingston, who has developed a talent for avoiding elimination by extraordinary stunts.

Along with the Royal Rumble, the WWE Universal Championship, the WWE Championship and the WWE Raw Women’s Championship will be on the line, as well as the Raw Tag Team titles and the Cruiserweight Championship.

Here’s everything you need to know about the 2017 Royal Rumble.

Kevin Owens vs Roman Reigns

The stack of steel chairs is now three stories high, and he throws Reigns up onto the apron in an effort to powerbomb him through the chairs. Reigns fights out of it, and tries to suplex the champion through them. Owens blocks it, and charges across the ring only to catch a big clotheslines from Reigns.

Reigns goes and gets himself a table, but the delay allows Owens to deliver a backstabber to Reigns for a two count. Owens gets rid of the table, but when he tries to deliver a cannonball Reigns floors him with a high boot and delivers a powerbomb...but only gets the two count!

Kevin Owens vs Roman Reigns

Reigns sets the table up outside the ring, but Owens delivers two head kicks that leaves him prone on the table. Owens seizes his chance and takes to the top of the turnbuckle, and leaps off with a Frogsplash to leave Reigns in a heap. He somehow kicks out of the pin at the two count though.

Kevin Owens vs Roman Reigns

After setting a chair up in the turnbuckle, Owens tries to whip Reigns across the ring but has the move blocked. They run into each other in the middle of the ring, and Owens reacts quickest by throwing Reigns in head first. Again, it's only good for a two count, but Jericho has found a way to interfere from the shark cage as he throws Owens brass knuckles. Owens lands a superman punch with the brass knuckles on!

Owens lines Reigns up for a powerbomb through the chair in the ring, but Reigns counters and Samoan drops the champion into it. This time it's Reigns who gets the two count.

Kevin Owens vs Roman Reigns

Reigns gets himself another table, and while he's putting it in the corner of the ring, Owens tries a schoolboy roll-up. It doesn't stick, and Reigns responds with a superman punch that gets yet another two count. Reigns goes for the spear, but Owens kicks him in the gut and delivers a Stone Cold Stunner! Reigns still manages to kick out though.

Kevin Owens vs Roman Reigns

Owens drags Reigns up the turnbuckle with the nest of chairs below them. Reigns fights out of an attempted suplex, and delivers a Superman punch that sends Owens crashing through the chairs! He's outside the ring though, meaning he can't pin the champion immediately until he's back in the ring.

Kevin Owens vs Roman Reigns

Reigns clears the announcers' table, and lifts Owens up onto his shoulders before powerbombing him through it! He gets back into the ring and lines up the spear, but Braun Strowman attacks him! He chokeslams Reigns into the announcers' table, and then slams him through the table inside the ring before leaving a motionless Reigns in the ring.

It's a McMahon reunion as Shane and Stephanie are joined by Daniel Bryan and Mick Foley, along with Sami Zayn and Dean Ambrose, who pick out their number for Rumble. Zayn gets eight, but Ambrose chooses not to show his hand. At least we know he's in it!
