England are through to the quarter-finals of World Cup 2018 after a nail-biting penalty shootout victory over Colombia.

Harry Kane had put England into the lead shortly after half-time from the penalty spot after the striker was fouled by defender Carlos Sanchez, with the captain brushing himself down to score his sixth goal of the tournament to remain top goalscorer.

But Colombia displayed their incredible resilience to score in the 93rd minute through a well-executed header through defender Yelly Mina, sending the game to extra-time with the scores locked at 1-1.

With no splitting the teams after 30 additional minutes, the game headed to penalties with England slipping behind when Jordan Henderson's effort was saved. However, Mateus Uribe rattled his effort off the crossbar before goalkeeper Jordan Pickford saved from Carlos Bacca, setting up Eric Dier to score the match-winning penalty and send England through to a quarter-final against Sweden. Here's how the action unfolded.

What time is it?

The game kicks off at 7pm BST in Moscow.

Where can I watch it?

The game will be shown live on ITV and the ITV Hub, with coverage starting from 6.15pm BST.

Odds:

Colombia: 3/1

England: 23/20

Draw after 90 minutes: 2/1

Prediction:

Colombia 1-1 England (England win on penalties). It’s pretty unlikely, because England don’t win shootouts, but Germany don’t go out at the group stage so who knows?

"Hi, yeah, I'd like an image that perfectly encapsulates that Colombia are playing a World Cup match in Moscow later today please."

Head to head

The last time these sides met Micheal Owen scored a 52-minute hat-trick as England beat Colombia 3-2 in a friendly in New Jersey.

Take note, Harry Kane!

Falcao has nothing to prove after failed stint in England

Remember Radamel Falcao at Atletico Madrid? He was one of the most exciting and free-scoring players in Europe. He finally completed his eagerly anticipated move to the Premier League when he joined Louis Van Gaal at Manchester United on loan. His time at Old Trafford was a complete failure, and he couldn't make up for it at Chelsea either.

Falcao leads the line this evening and insists he has nothing to prove against England.

"It is true that I did not shine as I had wanted in England but that is part of the past," said the 32-year-old striker.

"Tomorrow's game I only can say that it is beautiful to be here to play against England and all our players are very well prepared."

"It is a game we always dreamed of playing. Since we were young children we wanted to play something like this," he added.

"In England people will think their team are favourites. What we want to focus on is our skills and weapons and what we can do," Falcao said.

"I am a dreamer, that's true, but on the other hand we have to take it step by step. That's the way we have done things here."

"Our first game was not that good and we faced the next two games as finals. Now we have the Round of 16 game. We need to try and do exactly what we have been doing until now."

Team News

England make nine changes from the side that played against Belgium and play the same team that beat Tunisia 2-1 in their opening game.

Dele Alli returns after a dead leg forced him out the games against Panama and Belgium. John Stones is fit after an injury scare that saw him come off at half time against Belgium, him and Jordan Pickford are the only players to start all four games.

England XI to play Colombia: Pickford; Walker, Stones, Maguire; Trippier, Alli, Henderson, Lingard, Young; Sterling, Kane.
