Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

Brazil are the hot favourite this year and are hoping to add a sixth World Cup title to their trophy cabinet.

The South American giants have had an excellent display of form, losing only one game out of 21 and conceded five goals in the process.

Switzerland, on the other hand, are looking to give the Brazilians a challenge, after only losing one out of 17 games since the Euro 2016.

Both squads have a good chance at snatching three points but with the Swiss being the clear underdogs in their group, a draw would be a massive boost for them.

38 mins: Somehow Dzemaili escaped the attentions of Casemiro down the right, but his ball to Seferovic was poor, as was his touch that halted the move. Signs of progress for the Swiss as the attacking talents of Brazil haven't had too much possession in recent minutes

HALF TIME: Brazil 1-0 Switzerland

Philippe Coutinho's long range strike enough to give Brazil the lead going into the break, as the Brazilian's who promised much early on ran out of steam towards the end of the half

50 mins: GOAL! Brazil 1-1 Switzerland (Steven Zuber)

We expected the Swiss may find set pieces their best form of attack, and they've scored from a corner, after some poor defending left Zuber to head home from close range. Game on!

55 mins: Behrami suffered an injury scare moments ago, but looks to be back into the game now. Controversy over the Swiss goal after a push on Miranda, but the referee chose to allow it to stand

58 mins: Brazil back into their rhythm and after three blocked shots have a corner. The first is cleared and now they have another
