Arsenal boss Arteta says it is 'time to show what we’re made of' after tough week

Goals from Leandro Trossard and Martin Odegaard gave Arsenal a gritty 2-0 win over Wolves that sent them back to the top of the Premier League table after a game that otherwise won’t live long in the memory.

Arsenal lead on 74 points, one point ahead of Manchester City, who have a game in hand having beaten Chelsea 1-0 earlier on Saturday to reach the FA Cup final. Liverpool are in third place on 71 points, also with a match in hand on the Gunners.

Trossard broke the deadlock just before the break after a scrappy first half, Wolves defender Santiago Bueno steering the ball into his path while trying to dispossess Gabriel Jesus and the Belgian lashed it into the net off the right-hand post.

Knocked out of the Champions League in the last eight by Bayern Munich in midweek, Arsenal dominated the second half but it took until the fifth minute of stoppage time for them to score again, through Odegaard from a tight angle.

Mikel Arteta makes a single alteration to the Arsenal side that lost 2-0 to Aston Villa on Sunday, with Kiwior preferred to Zinchenko at left-back.

Wolves make four changes to the XI that earned a 1-1 draw with Nottingham Forest seven days ago. Hugo Bueno is called into the side at wing-back due to Nelson Semedo’s injury, while Lemina is dropped to the bench for Traore in midfield. Chirewa gets the start ahead of Sarabia in attack, just behind Hwang, who returns to the starting line-up in place of Matheus Cunha, who is out with a knock.

Arsenal are looking to end a nightmare week on somewhat of a high, after a late 2-0 loss to Aston Villa last weekend was compounded by elimination in the Champions League at the hands of Bayern Munich. With Manchester City not playing in the Premier League due to FA Cup obligations and Liverpool kicking off against Fulham tomorrow, the Gunners have the chance to temporarily restore themselves at the top of the table with five games to go; with a win taking them a single point above Pep Guardiola's team at the summit.

Winless in their last four Premier League fixtures with alternating losses and draws, 11th-placed Wolves squandered a one-goal lead before coming from behind to take a point from Nottingham Forest last time out. Equidistant between the European places and the relegation zone, Gary O'Neil's side can go level with Chelsea in ninth with three points today - with the Blues not featuring in the league this weekend.
