From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

With the Premier League summer transfer window already open for business, the likes of Manchester United, Liverpool FC and Arsenal are set to be busier than ever as they looked to reel in runaway champions Manchester City.

Arsenal of course will face something that they have not experienced in 22 years as they start the campaign with a new man at the helm in the form of Unai Emery, following an 11th-hour change of heart after deciding against appointing Mikel Arteta. At United Jose Mourinho looks set to spend big again as he targets reinforcements in his bid to catch City, with a new left-back and central midfield player high on his wish list.

Liverpool have enjoyed success in the Champions League this term and their quest to end their league title drought in 2019 will be bolstered by the arrival of Naby Keita from RB Leipzig - he will not be the last new face on Merseyside, however. Chelsea could well be looking for a new manager themselves with the future of Mauricio Pochettino across London at Tottenham Hotspur less certain than ever before.

We will have all the latest news, views, rumours, gossip and done deals right here so don't touch that dial.

Manchester City are planning to not only get Riyad Mahrez but also Jorginho from Napoli but that may not be the only business they do this summer. According to Goal.com City also harbour 'dreams' of signing either Eden Hazard or Kylian Mbappe - although they are move that are more in hope than expectation.

Tottenham want to sign West Brom defender Ahmed Hegazi according to ESPN.

The Egyptian was relegated with the Baggies this season and would therefore be available at a cut-price. He would be a direct replacement for Toby Alderweireld who is expected to leave the club, with Manchester United front-runners for his signature.

Victor Wanyama has ruled out leaving Tottenham:

"I still have a contract with Spurs and that is what I want to see through.

“I did not have a good season with the team because of injury and my aim now is to work hard during this break and return for next season even stronger and help them perform even better."

Manchester United transfer news:

Manchester United are close to agreeing the signing of Fred of Shakhtar Donetsk, as the club hope to get much of Jose Mourinho’s transfer plans completed before the World Cup.

A deal for Lazio’s Sergej Milinković-Savić is looking increasingly unlikely, however, due to a series of complications. That will lead Mourinho to assess other midfield options, as the area is one of his priorities for this summer, especially if - as expected now - Marouane Fellaini leaves for AC Milan on a free transfer.

The deal for Fred is very close, with United set to agree a deal of just under £50m.
