From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

With the Premier League summer transfer window already open for business, the likes of Manchester United, Liverpool FC and Arsenal are set to be busier than ever as they looked to reel in runaway champions Manchester City.

Arsenal of course will face something that they have not experienced in 22 years as they start the campaign with a new man at the helm in the form of Unai Emery, following an 11th-hour change of heart after deciding against appointing Mikel Arteta. At United Jose Mourinho looks set to spend big again as he targets reinforcements in his bid to catch City, with a new left-back and central midfield player high on his wish list.

Liverpool have enjoyed success in the Champions League this term and their quest to end their league title drought in 2019 will be bolstered by the arrival of Naby Keita from RB Leipzig - he will not be the last new face on Merseyside, however. Chelsea could well be looking for a new manager themselves with the future of Mauricio Pochettino across London at Tottenham Hotspur less certain than ever before.

We will have all the latest news, views, rumours, gossip and done deals right here so don't touch that dial.

Manuel Pellegrini is looking to sign “four or five players” at West Ham United following his recent appointment as manager.

The Chilean put pen to paper on a three-year contract on Tuesday, replacing David Moyes who left his position at the club last week.

Pellegrini, who has managed the likes of Manchester City, Real Madrid and River Plate, joins from Hebei China Fortune after a two-year spell with the Chinese Super League side.

And the 64-year-old has made it clear that he intends to strengthen his new squad during the coming transfer window as he attempts to bring attacking football to West Ham.

Mikel Arteta looks set to stay at Manchester City for the time being after Unai Emery emerged as Arsene Wenger's successor, the Daily Mailreports.

The former Arsenal player was tipped as a possible replacement for the outgoing Gunners boss, although any hopes were dashed by reports that Emery is swapping Paris for north London.

The Spaniard, 36, is expected to be offered a two-year contract to remain part of Pep Guardiola's coaching team.

Manchester City have been told that it will take a £60m bid this summer to prise want-away midfielder Riyad Mahrez away from Leicester City, according to The Guardian.

Despite handing in a transfer request, Mahrez failed to seal a January move to City earlier this year, but still has his heart set on moving to the Etihad to join up with Pep Guardiola.

Jurgen Klopp has identified Burnley's James Tarkowski and Newcastle United's Jamaal Lascelles as his summer centre-half targets, as he seeks to bolster his Liverpool squad for next season.

The Champions League finalists want to bring in three to four players in the close-season window - including a goalkeeper, likely Jack Butland, and another attacker - but centre-half is again a priority position.

Klopp and the Liverpool hierarchy feel Tarkowski and Lascelles both fit what they want, and the club will try to buy one.

Manchester City will have to fork out a huge £75m if they are to finally sign Riyad Mahrez this summer, according to the Daily Mail.

The Leicester man wanted to leave in January but was deemed too expensive at £60m. However, with extra add-ons now, the deal looks like it would be closer to £75m to prize the playmaker away.

Alvaro Morata has been pictured in Italy along with his agent as rumours of a potential Chelsea exit gather pace. The Spaniard, who has been left out of his country's World Cup squad, was caught on camera with Juventus sporting director Fabio Paratici.

Morata spent his best years to date in Turin before Real Madrid exercised their buy-back clause.

Another man being pictured discussing a move away is Wayne Rooney. The former England captain has been photographed in Washington DC to discuss a move to DC United.

He is expected to have a medical and bring to an end his one-year second-spell at Everton on a £3.7m-a-year contract.
