Manuel Pellegrini is looking to sign “four or five players” at West Ham United following his recent appointment as manager.

The Chilean put pen to paper on a three-year contract on Tuesday, replacing David Moyes who left his position at the club last week.

Pellegrini, who has managed the likes of Manchester City, Real Madrid and River Plate, joins from Hebei China Fortune after a two-year spell with the Chinese Super League side.

And the 64-year-old has made it clear that he intends to strengthen his new squad during the coming transfer window as he attempts to bring attacking football to West Ham.

Mikel Arteta looks set to stay at Manchester City for the time being after Unai Emery emerged as Arsene Wenger's successor, the Daily Mailreports.

The former Arsenal player was tipped as a possible replacement for the outgoing Gunners boss, although any hopes were dashed by reports that Emery is swapping Paris for north London.

The Spaniard, 36, is expected to be offered a two-year contract to remain part of Pep Guardiola's coaching team.

Matthijs de Ligt has told his current club Ajax he wants to leave in the summer, with two Premier League clubs interested in taking the £50million-rated defender on, according to the Mirror.

Manchester City and Tottenham are both keen on landing the Dutchman, the paper said.

As we told you earlier, the Manchester Evening News was reporting Fred was close to a switch to Old Trafford, well it looks like it's hotting up as now Sky Sports are reporting the club are in "advanced talks" with Shakhtar Donetsk. Manchester City have been told that it will take a £60m bid this summer to prise want-away midfielder Riyad Mahrez away from Leicester City, according to The Guardian.

Morata spent his best years to date in Turin before Real Madrid exercised their buy-back clause.

He is expected to have a medical and bring to an end his one-year second-spell at Everton on a £3.7m-a-year contract.
