Arsenal have completed the club-record signing of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang after getting the green light from Borussia Dortmund to announce the deal, with the striker joining for £56m, and have followed it up by agreeing a new three-and-a-half year contract extension for Mesut Özil that will see him paid £350,000-a-week.
The Gunners have put the 3-1 defeat by Swansea behind them on Wednesday by announcing a new club-record deal, with Olivier Giroud now expected to leave the club. Giroud looks certain to leave Arsenal for Chelsea after Blues agreed an £18m deal with the Gunners to keep him remain in the Premier League. Meanwhile, Dortmund are set to sign Chelsea’s Michy Batshuayi on loan until the end of the season, with the Belgian striker in Dortmund undergoing a medical.
Manchester City will continue their late pursuit of Riyad Mahrez, although Leicester City are believed to have rejected a third offer on Tuesday worth £55m, and have informed the Premier League leaders that it will take a lot more to tempt them into selling as they do not have enough time to find a replacement.
Tottenham will also complete their first bit of business this month after agreeing a deal worth around £28m wit Paris saint-Germain to sign Lucas Moura, with a medical already completed this morning.

BREAKING
Borussia Dortmund have confirmed that Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is joining Arsenal!
Newcastle news!
But not the type that fans will want to hear as it involves a player heading for the exit rather than the entrance. Aleksandar Mitrovic's Newcastle nightmare looks like it might be over temporarily after his former club Anderlecht made an approach to take him on loan until the end of the season.
Aleksandar Mitrovic is expected to leave Newcastle for Anderlecht on loan
Crystal Palace target Alexandr Sorloth is headed to London - that much is confirmed. As far as we know, however, no deal agreed yet. FC Midtjylland want £15m as things stand. Palace had budgeted around the £10-12m mark so it seems feasible they come to an agreement.
While the headlines are being dominated by clubs making extraordinary moves late in the window, spare a thought for Newcastle supporters, who are yet to see a single player walk through the door.
Having missed out on Daniel Sturridge yesterday after the striker joined West Brom on loan, Rafa Benitez's mood will not have improved this morning when he woke up to discover that another loan target in Eliquim Mangala - who can leave Manchester City - looks to be heading to Everton.
Needless to say, Benitez has held crunch talks with Mike Ashley, and it's not out of the question that the complete lack of transfer business could tempt the Spaniard to leave the club.
Martin Hardy has all the information from the north-east:
MAIN STORYArsenal have broken their club-record transfer fee for the second window in a row after paying Borussia Dortmund £56m for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.
Here's all the details surrounding the deal, which is likely to trigger the end of Olivier Giroud's Arsenal career:
Dortmund sources tell the Evening Standard that Arsenal paid an extra £1.3m for Aubameyang so that the Bundesliga club would use it to pay the loan fee Chelsea were demanding for Michy Batshuayi (and effectively get him for nothing).
That is quite something.
Arsene Wenger has been speaking about Arsenal's latest signing, with the manager looking rather excited about the prospect of linking Aubameyang up with Mesut Özil, Alexandre Lacazette and Henrikh Mkhitaryan.
But he's also discussed why he wanted to sign Aubameyang, and his reasons are pretty damning for those attackers already at the Emirates.
BREAKING
Even more news coming out of Arsenal and it surrounds attacking midfielder Mesut Özil who has, according to reports, signed a new three-and-a-half year contract to stay with at the club. However, that isn't the biggest part of this story, as he will earn...
£350,000-A-WEEK!
That fee is very similar to what Alexis Sanchez wanted to stay at Arsenal, and on that occasion the club packed his bags for him and shipped him off to Manchester United.
Reports have linked Danny Ings with a move away from Liverpool today, but Jürgen Klopp has crushed any chance of the striker leaving Anfield before tonight's 11pm deadline:
It would be funny if somebody calls about Ingsy - I would love to respond: No chance!
We will see what happens but there is no chance that Ingsy is on the market - only if I'm unconscious.
Maybe something happens. It's clear who is a little bit (available).
