Transfer deadline day is over as the window slammed shut for Premier League clubs at 11pm BST, following some frantic last-minute buying and selling.

Liverpool have given their midfield a further boost with the signing of Ryan Gravenberch from Bayern Munich, although they rejected a bid, rumoured to be £150m, from Saudi Pro League side Al-Ittihad for Mohamed Salah. Meanwhile, Tottenham Hotspur finally got their man by securing Nottingham Forest forward Brennan Johnson as Harry Kane’s replacement.

Elsewhere, Man City have sold Cole Palmer to Chelsea, and the London club offloaded Callum Hudson-Odoi to Nottingham Forest after his return from loan. Manchester United, meanwhile, had a very busy day as Sofyan Amrabat came in on loan from Fiorentina, Spurs left-back Sergio Reguilon has signed, Jonny Evans penned a one-year contract and Mason Greenwood left on loan for Spanish side Getafe.

Brighton had something of a coup by nabbing Ansu Fati on loan from Barcelona and Nottingham Forest had their customary slew of incomings.

DONE DEAL! Manchester City sign Matheus Nunes

Manchester City have signed midfielder Matheus Nunes from Wolves to take their summer spending to around £200m.

The Portugal international, who cost £47.2 million, has signed a five-year deal at the Etihad and becomes Pep Guardiola’s fourth summer recruit.

Mateo Kovacic cost £25m, Josko Gvardiol £77m and Jeremy Doku £55m, although the signing of Nunes was in effect paid for when City sold Cole Palmer to Chelsea for an initial £40m.

Gary O’Neil confident Tommy Doyle

It’s been a hectic couple of days at Wolves, with Manchester City’s Tommy Doyle now confirmed to have joined the club on lone.

“He had a really good season last year at Sheffield United, he’s a talented boy, well-educated football-wise obviously coming through the academy at Manchester City,” Wolves boss Gary O’Neil has said of Doyle’s signing.

“He’ll be good to help us with the structure and how we try and play, we’ve been a little bit short especially with the injury to (Joe) Hodge in the week, a little bit short in central midfield so it gives us another number in there.

“It brings us some quality and something a little bit different to maybe what we’ve had in there over the last few weeks.

“The competition for places is key and adding quality and someone who we think is going to be able to affect games at this level for now and also for the future.”

DONE DEAL! Nottingham Forest complete Nuno Tavares loan

A done deal at the City Ground, with full back Nuno Tavares in through the door on deadline day. The Arsenal defender impressed for Marseille during his season in the south of France and will press for a place on the left of Steve Cooper’s back five.

“I’m really happy to be here,” Tavares said after confirmation of a deal that includes what the club describe as “future options”.

“Forest is an historic club which won two European Cups and to be part of it makes me really happy.

“I’m really happy to stay in the Premier League as it’s the best league in the world and I’m thankful to Forest for giving me that opportunity.”

“The position remains the same,” Klopp said after insisting Salah was not for sale last week. “Absolutely no doubt about that. [There’s] nothing else to say. No offer as far as I know.”

Transfer deadline day LIVE

Celtic got more business done ahead of transfer deadline day, but the Scottish champions could still be busy in the market ahead of midnight.

Defender Nat Phillips joined Brendan Rodgers’ squad on loan from Liverpool on Thursday after Honduran winger Luis Palma signed 24 hours earlier.

The Hoops are reported to be closing in on a loan move for Benfica midfielder Paulo Bernardo.

Rodgers had stressed after last weekend’s cinch Premiership draw with St Johnstone that the club needed to improve the team after strengthening the squad earlier in the window.

Sead Haksabanovic has been linked with potential moves to PAOK and Stoke after appearing to express frustration over a lack of game time on social media.

Another player keen for more game time, 18-year-old midfielder Rocco Vata, is understood to be wanted by Verona and Club Brugge.

Manchester United still hunting Sofyan Amrabat

Manchester United, meanwhile, are still on the hunt for a midfield addition, with Sofyan Amrabat still a top target. The Fiorentina man may be available for the right price - but The Independent’s Miguel Delaney believes that the Old Trafford club’s offers have so far been short of what Fiorentina are looking for.
