Spurs defeated Burnley 1-0 in the previous round, thanks to a 78th minute goal from Pedro Porro, to set up the clash with Pep Guardiola’s men. Though Postecoglou will be without the services of Son Heung-Min who is off playing in the Asia Cup, Tottenham could be boosted by the returns of James Maddison, who has been missing since November with an ankle injury, and defenders Micky van de Ven and Cristian Romero.
Another benefit for Spurs is that Guardiola still cannot call on Erling Haaland who is recovering from injury. Not that his absence is slowing down the FA Cup holders. They are on a nine-game unbeaten run with eight wins and one draw during that time. City have scored eight goals in their last two outings and have Kevin De Bruyne back fit and firing.

42 mins: Brilliant! Bernardo Silva gets into the box on the right as City break. He lays it off to Rodri who shoots and has his effort blocked.
It comes to Mateo Kovacic who has a go and gets denied. Oscar Bobb controls the rebound and arguably has the best chance to score but his effort, City’s third inside a minute, is deflected behind by a lunging Pedro Porro.

39 mins: Great pressure from Kulusevski, Richarlison and Werner sees them work the ball into the City box. Walker attempts to shield it out for a goal kick but the Spurs attackers charge onto him and keep the ball in play.
Playing risk-free, Walker manages to get to the ball and smokes it out for a throw with a no nonsense clearance to clear away the danger.

30 mins: Guglielmo Vicario is fuming with his team-mates as he nearly gets caught in possession by Julian Alvarez. He wanted more options to offload the ball and must have felt Spurs were taking unnecessary risks.

27 mins: Great defending from Destiny Udogie. Julian Alvarez threads a pass into the box for Phil Foden but the defender nips ahead of him and pokes the ball away.
Under pressure from Foden trying to recover it, Udogie shields the ball, drifts out wide and eventually forces a foul out of the Man City man.

24 mins: Pedro Porro advances down the right wing and is fed the ball. He’s got Ricarlison alongside as he carries the ball into the box before squaring a pass into the six-yard area.
It would be the easiest of tap ins but Stefa Ortega drops low and manages to smother the ball before it reaches the forward.

21 mins: Things have started to settle since City’s early onslaught. Tottenham are seeing more of the ball and a give-and-go in the middle of the pitch allows them to break into City’s half.
Brennan Johnson curls a pass into the middle of the box and wins a corner though nothing really comes of it.

Bobb looks for a pass into the penalty area but he was clearly offside and the flag goes up to end the attack.
