Tottenham kept themselves in the top-four race with a 5-0 hammering of Everton, who are in grave relegation danger after a gutless showing in north London. Spurs have been inconsistent in recent weeks but showed their best as, after Michael Keane’s own goal put them ahead early on, they ran riot, with Harry Kane scoring twice and Son Heung-min and Sergio Reguilon also netting.

It was another Kane masterclass, with his second goal a particular highlight, and he took his tally to 14 goals in 15 games against Everton. This was as bad a performance as the Toffees have put in this season and there has been no bounce under Frank Lampard, with a fourth loss in five league games since he took over. There is little doubt that they are involved in a relegation dogfight as they are just a point above 18th-placed Burnley, though they do have a game in hand.

Spurs equalled their best ever Premier League win at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium and will now have real belief that they can gate-crash the Champions League qualification places. Follow the reaction and analysis after Spurs thrash Everton in the Premier League:

Tottenham 5 - 0 Everton

82 mins: Steven Berwijn goes down on the edge of the box and wants a penalty but the referee is having none of it. He does award Spurs a free kick over on the left wing when Kane is brought down by Dele Alli though.

Sergio Reguilon sends in the set piece and whips the ball over everyone and out for a goal kick.

Tottenham 5 - 0 Everton

79 mins: This is the second time that Frank Lampard has conceded five goals in his managerial carrer having also do so when in charge of Chelsea against Liverpool in July 2020. The Blues lost 3-5 on that occasion.

Kulusevski’s brings the ball down the right side and evades three Everton defenders before drilling a sharp cross into the box. Kane is waiting in the middle but Allan gets a head to the ball and glances it over to the far side of the box.

Tottenham 5 - 0 Everton

76 mins: Understandably Tottenham have taken their foot off the gas and stepped down a level or two. They’re happy to allow Everton time on the ball and seem solid enough defensively to deal with any crosses into the box. Jonjoe Kenny whips one in from the right wing and Hugo Lloris comes out and plucks it from the air.

Tottenham 5 - 0 Everton

73 mins: Dele Alli attempts to play a cute one-two with Richarlison and work the ball into the Tottenham box but the return pass doesn’t get to him and the home side run the ball away.

Tottenham 5 - 0 Everton

70 mins: He nearly gets one! Kulusevski dinks a pass into the right side of the box as Bergwijn sprints through the lines. He meets the ball on the bounce and whips it towards the near post but Pickford is well positioned to punch it away!

Dele Alli receives a warm welcome as he comes on for Everton replacing Dominic Calvert-Lewin. I wonder if it would have been as good if Everton were the team that had scored five.

Tottenham 5 - 0 Everton

67 mins: Son Heung-min is clapped off loudly as Steven Bergwijn comes on to replace him for the last 20-25 minutes or so. With Spurs playing so well - and Everton seemingly there for the taking - he’ll fancy getting himself a goal tonight.

Tottenham 5 - 0 Everton

64 mins: Kulusevski is enjoying himself now. He’s settled well at Spurs and has put in another decent performance this evening. He receives the ball on the right wing and comes inside, weaving away from Richarlison, before whacking a left-footed effort just over the crossbar!

Tottenham 5 - 0 Everton

61 mins: Matt Doherty has had a great night for Spurs, setting up at least two goals by my reckoning. He whips a cross into the penalty area where Dejan Kulusevski and Richarlison tussle for the ball. Kulusevksi seems to get a touch to it but he’s judged to have also fouled the Brazilian and Everton win a free kick.

58 mins: Ukrainian Vitaliy Mykolenko receives a warm welcome from both sets of fans as he comes on to replace Donny van de Beek for Everton.

Son whips another corner into the box for Spurs but this one is headed away.
