Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

17 min: Bournemouth have their first meaningful attack, and a very nice one it is, too. Adam Smith and Junior Stanislas link up down the right before Benik Afobe takes over, cutting in from the right channel. His pass to Charlie Daniels is a touch overhit, but the full-back does well to drag the ball back for Afobe to get a shot off. The ball rattles off a Chelsea leg and away.
24 min: Asmir Begovic is a lucky, lucky man. The Bournemouth goalkeeper shanks a clearance straight to the feet of Eden Hazard, who advances on goal and slides a pass through to Alvaro Morata. The Spaniard looks destined to score but just puts too much whip on his shot, dragging it a few centimetres wide. A let-off for the Cherries.
27 min: Alvaro Morata has the ball in the net after a penalty-box scramble, but the flag is up for offside. Cesar Azpilicueta is the man penalised after following up on a David Luiz effort. It looked like the right call, just about.
35 min: Alvaro Morata is having a busy old half but things aren't going his way just yet. The Chelsea forward shows fantastic awareness and strength to glide past Steve Cook and Simon Francis, only for Asmir Begovic to flick his shot over the crossbar. Great play all round.
HALF-TIME: Bournemouth 0-0 Chelsea. That's it for the first half at Dean Court. There was a hint of a chance for Cesc Fabregas just before the break, but Steve Cook was on hand to make a brave block inside his own area. The visitors have been the better side but Asmir Begovic has stood tall thus far.
