Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

PENALTY MISS: Massive, massive chance for Liverpool to get their noses in front against Huddersfield. Tommy Smith concedes a penalty for a tug on Roberto Firmino, but Mo Salah's effort from 12 yards is saved by Jonas Lossl. No idea why James Milner isn't taking that.

GOAL: Crystal Palace 0-2 West Ham (Ayew). What a week for Andre Ayew. The Ghanaian netted twice in the League Cup win over Spurs in Wednesday and now has a goal at Selhurst Park. It's a cracker, too, powered home via the underside of the bar.

Here we go again, then: second halves underway in the Premier League. Unfortunately, there's some bad news for England's U17 starlets, who are 2-0 down to Spain in the World Cup final in India. More on that as and when.

GOAL: Liverpool 1-0 Huddersfield (Sturridge). At long, long last, Liverpool take the lead at Anfield. Daniel Sturridge is the scorer, making the most of a rare start to finish past Jonas Lossl. We'll see what the Terriers are made of now.

GOAL: Arsenal 1-1 Swansea (Kolasinac). A goal for Arsenal, too, who finally make the most of their dominance of possession in north London. A loose ball is pounced on by wing-back Sead Kolasinac, who lashes a powerful effort home. That's his third goal of the season in all competitions.

GOAL: Crystal Palace 1-2 West Ham (Milivojevic). Game on at Selhurst Park, where Luka Milivojevic converts a penalty for the hosts. Angelo Ogbonna was the guilty party, blocking Andros Townsend to concede the spot-kick.
