From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference.Liverpool, Manchester United and Tottenham all recorded emphatic victories on Boxing Day, taking full advantage of Manchester City's second consecutive defeat as Pep Guardiola's side slumped to a 2-1 loss at Leicester City.
City looked to be cruising when Bernardo Silva put them ahead early on, but Marc Albrighton soon equalised and Ricardo Pereira stole the show with his late winner the inflicted back-to-back defeats on City, who also had Fabian Delph sent off late on for a bad challenge.
The defeat was all the more costly given that Liverpool thrashed Newcastle United 4-0 thanks to goals from Dejan Lovren, Mohamed Salah, Xherdan Shaqiri and Fabinho, while Tottenham's 5-0 thrashing of Bournemouth elevates them to second, with Son Heung-min scoring twice along with Christian Eriksen, Lucas Moura and Harry Kane.
United's resurgence under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer continued at Old Trafford as a Paul Pogba double, plus an early opener from Nemanja Matic, secured a 3-1 victory over Huddersfield, while Everton recovered from last weekend's mauling by Spurs with an emphatic 5-1 victory over Burnley, with Lucas Digne scoring twice while Yerry Minda scored his first goal for the club. The other 3pm match was the only one not to feature a goal as Crystal Palace were held to a 0-0 draw at home by Cardiff City. Re-live the action below.

GOAL! Tottenham 2-0 Bournemouth (Son, 23)
Ruthless from the Spurs and they're not going to let City and Liverpool get away from them.
Sissoko with the fantastic defensive work to win the ball back and he feeds Walker-Peters who cuts inside and pokes it towards Son.
He's 20 yards out and bends a lovely curler into the bottom corner.
That's 9 goals in his lats 10 games.
In form? Yep.
GOAL! Manchester United 1-0 Huddersfield (Matic, 28)
A corner was whipped in with a great deal of pace and it was flicked on by Lindelof but Lossl made the save.
Sadly for the Terriers the ball fell back to Nemanja Matic who scored from a yard and a half out.
A good start to his managerial career at United for Ole.
Can they build on it?
GOAL! Tottenham 3-0 Bournemouth (Lucas, 35)
It's a third assist of the day for Kyle Walker-Peters who gets to the byline and he finds the right ball once again!
Moura is on hand to finish from 10 yards away.
Eddie Howe will be fuming as Spurs haven't even been that good, just incredibly ruthless.
GOAL! Burnley 1-3 Everton (Gibson, 37)
Comeback on?
I'm sure Sean Dyche would still be fuming with this first half but they have fought their way to get a goal from a corner, Everton's achilles heel.
Tarkowski rises at the far post and his header is cleared off the line by Michael Keane but Gibson is the fastest to react and prod the ball back over the line.
Lifeline.
HALF TIME SCORES:
Burnley 1-3 Everton
Crystal Palace 0-0 Cardiff
Leicester City 1-1 Manchester City
Liverpool 1-0 Newcastle
Manchester United 1-0 Huddersfield
Tottenham 3-0 Bournemouth
Liverpool are currently going six points clear at the top of the table...
47mins: Penalty to Liverpool!
Dummett with a silly foul. It might be a bit soft but Liverpool have the chance to double their lead...
GOAL! Liverpool 2-0 Newcastle (Salah, 47 pen)
And Salah has put it away. Comfortable lead for the Reds, now.
GOAL! Manchester United 2-0 Huddersfield (Pogba, 64)
Good football from United extends their lead this afternoon despite Huddersfield creating some good chances of their own.
And it's the man who was much maligned under Jose Mourinho who has given United the breathing space as good play between the Spaniards, Juan Mata and Ander Herrera set up the Frenchman to give the Red Devils a two-goal cushion.
Tottenham 4-0 Bournemouth (Kane, 60)
Harry Kane will have been disappointed to see everyone scoring around him but not managing one himself!
He has now, though and Spurs move further in front.
Eriksen plops a marvellous ball over the top for Kane to run on to and he obliges.
The angle is tight but he manages to take it first time and slide it into the far corner, beyond Begovic.
Ruthless Spurs. 10 goals in 2 games.
GOAL! Burnley 1-4 Everton (Digne, 71)
It's another fantastic strike from Lucas Digne as he is set up 30 yards from goal by Bernard who gets a second assist.
The left back unleashes a wild drive that arrows into the bottom corner and surely, that's all three points.
What a goal!
