From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. Newcastle United host Arsenal in the 1330 BST kick-off at St James’ Park with both sides on the fringes of their respective Premier League battles.

For the Gunners, the top four is now out of sight and they are content with chasing Chelsea in fifth above them while holding off the charge of Burnley from below.

Newcastle meanwhile are sitting pretty above the relegation scrap, seemingly safe on 38 points, and can now target a top-half finish which would be an impressive achievement from a squad which many experts tipped to struggle this season.

Speaking to Sky Sports, Ben Foster is full of praise for Darren Moore, who stepped in following Alan Pardew's departure.

"I've got to pay big respect to Darren Moore. hes been a breath of fresh air, he's brilliant. It's easy to go out and give a performance like that when you've got someone like that behind you.

"Pay tribute to the lads in front of me, the back four, the back eight blocked everything in front of them.

"Definitely not too late, we'll take every game as it comes. It's a bit disappointing picking up a win like this late in the season. You just have to crack on and get on with it."

The match-winner Jay Rodriguez was also interviewed and wanted to have his say on events off the pitch after a claim that West Brom forward racially abused Brighton defender Gaetan Bong was found "not proven" by the Football Association.

"It's been horrendous for me. I've always been a believer that the truth comes out. It's a massive weight off my shoulders. Anything that effects my family hurts me deep."

Absolutely fascinating from Jose Mourinho

Speaking to Sky Sports, Jose Mourinho has been critical of the players in his side that are making things more complicated that they need to be.

"We were deservedly punished because we were masters in complication. Everything was complicated. Players, they didn't want or couldn't play simple.

"Everything was slow or one more touch or one more flick or one more turn. No fluidity. I don't think we deserved to lose but we gave them the opportunity to win the match by being solid in defence and taking a chance like they did.

"I have lots of experience and that's not me because I won eight titles and I'm not in a moon because I won against Manchester city, that's three points. I saw lots of people in the moon with the win against Manchester City.

"You could see the attutide of the players compared to other weeks, masters of complication.

"Paul Tinnery (referee) was not lucky in one decision, I don't blame him at all, that's football.

"I want titles. Man city won the title because they won more points than anybody else.

"In the first half I felt I had to bring one player with more dynamic and touches into space, I had to make the decision to take one player out and I wanted more width. Paul (Pogba) had a yellow card, you never know in football with the referees. Paul's game was complicated, always one more touch or turn.

"They (Manchester City) are the best team, if it's not today it will be the next weekend."

West Brom caretaker manager Darren Moore tells Sky Sports he's refusing to get drawn into manager speculation talk.

"One game at a time I'm just looking forward to the next, game I don't get drawn into anything like that.," he said after leading West Brom to victory at Old Trafford.

"It was important for us to come here and give a positive performance. Everyone at the football club put a real shift in during the week. We've got faith in another, we believe in the club, it's really important that we continue to try and work hard for each other.

"We're all a family at West Bromwich and that's how I've treated it, right across the board, everyone's got their jobs and doing it to the best of their ability."

Juan Mata says losing the title to City hurts

"It's a bad day for everyone, it's a bad result," Juan Mata said on Sky Sports. "After winning at Manchester City last week we wanted to keep going with a good spirit but today was one of those days. We don't create enough chances to score, they were fighting for their survival in the Premier League, but no excuses.

"It hurts, obviously it hurts. We didn't do our job today: winning. Our aim is to keep that second position, it's not done yet. Today was a very bad day and we need to move on."
