Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

GOAL
MANCHESTER UNITED 1 - 1 ARSENAL
They've done it. They've shown one glimpse of quality in this half, and they've been given the best reward of all.
And, who else but Giroud? It's a goal made from substitutes.
Oxlade-Chamberlain beats Rashford down the wing, and fires a cross into the box. Giroud leaps above the crowd and heads it past De Gea. It's completely against the run of play, but they've just showed themselves how easily it can be done. Game on!
FULL TIME
MANCHESTER UNITED 1 - 1 ARSENAL
A late redemption from substitute, Giroud, gave his side the late equaliser against the run of play. United dominated for the majority of the fixture and their efforts were rewarded in the form of a second half goal from Mata. However, the joy was short lived as Wenger's substitutes made the intended impact and drew his side level.
Nonetheless, it was a poor performance from the Arsenal side. They seemed lethargic, slow and undetermined all round. De Gea was somewhat untested throughout the fixture, until he was left the victim of a powerful Giroud header. United showed glimpses of brilliance, especially on the counter attack. The pace of The Red's going forward unsettled the visitors.
Arsenal remain unbeaten since the first game of the season, but they've missed out on the chance of topping the table at Old Trafford today. United will be dissapointed to not have ended the game with three points. But, that's the brilliance of the Premier League.
