Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

It’s the final home game at the Etihad Stadium for a memorable – and utterly dominant – season for Manchester City, at it will culminate with Pep Guardiola getting his hands on the Premier League trophy for the first time.

City face Huddersfield Town, who still aren’t safe from the drop, looking to hit the 100 point mark, which they can only do by winning their remaining three games.

Huddersfield are nearly safe as Swansea and Southampton play each other next but could do without a heavy defeat given their inferior goal difference – it is the second worst in the division.

Odds…

Manchester City: 1/9

The delay? A drug test!

Fernandinho has been called in for a drugs test, hence the long delay.

The Manchester City staff and players are finally on their way back out at the Etihad!

The trophy, carried by two young boys from the City Foundation, has now made its way to the plinth, and it is shining in the glorious weather

The staff have assembled to form a guard of honour for the players, who have all donned shirts with '18 champions' on the back, and Pep too.

They are at the tip of the tunnel, and unsurprisingly, its smiles all round. The announcer heralds their return. The champions will claim their deserved crown imminently

Pep Guardiola high-fives every member of staff assembled in that long line that extends from the tunnel on to the field. He is followed by his City players, who exchange hand-shakes, high-fives and a few jokes with their fellow Cityzens.
