Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference. This is one few of us would have predicted at the start of the season. Seventh-placed Tottenham travel to Turf Moor looking to overhaul Sean Dyche's Burnley in sixth and keep alive their top-four hopes. Stick around as we bring you all the latest action.
4' - Dele Alli is involved in an early flashpoint here as he picks up an early booking for a really late challenge on Charlie Taylor.
6' - Ben Davies makes a good overlapping run down the left wing and he is picked out by Son Heung-min but the Welshman's first-time cross is well overhit. Really disappointing from the left-back.
GOAL! Burnley 0-1 Spurs (Kane, pen, 7)
Dele Alli is felled in the box by Kevin Long and Harry Kane dispatches the resulting penalty.
Great start for the visitors.
11' - Harry Kane skips past a couple of Burnley defenders before getting a shot away from distance, which Ben Mee blocks.
Spurs have started this match superbly and a second goal doesn't look far away.
17' - Close! Dele Alli's 20-yard strike deflects into the path of Harry Kane, who is alert and rounds Nick Pope only to put his shot into the side-netting with the goal gaping.
Burnley really haven't got going yet.
22' - Great double save! Spurs counter devastatingly and it's Moussa Sissoko who finds himself in a goalscoring position after Son Heung-min's perfectly-weighted pass. Sissoko's first effort is well saved by Nick Pope and the Burnley stopper gets up to deny the Frenchman at the second time of asking too.
That really was magnificent goalkeeping.
27' - Christian Eriksen fires a great pass into Harry Kane's feet after a poor clearance by Nick Pope. The Spurs striker's first touch sets up a shooting opportunity on the edge of the area but his strike is uncharacteristically poor and the ball sails well over the crossbar.
30' - Chris Wood dispossesses Serge Aurier in a dangerous position and offloads the ball to Steven Defour down the left wing before carrying his run on into the box. Defour attempts to pick Wood back out with a low cross but Hugo Lloris comes off his line to bravely claim the ball and snuff out the danger. Good goalkeeping.
