Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

This is one few of us would have predicted at the start of the season. Seventh-placed Tottenham travel to Turf Moor looking to overhaul Sean Dyche's Burnley in sixth and keep alive their top-four hopes. Stick around as we bring you all the latest action.

Good evening all and welcome to the Independent's coverage of this evening's Premier League clash between Burnley and Tottenham. We'll be bringing all the latest goals, updates and analysis from Turf Moor so make sure to stay tuned!

[Coverage starts at 4.45pm]

Gerrard: Spurs have been punching above their weight

BT Sport pundit Steven Gerrard has had this to say about Spurs' struggles in the Premier League this season.

"Over the last couple of years Tottenham have punched above their weight. Of late they've been inconsistent.

"You'd like to see them go through the gears. Can they get back to winning ways and play to their style: a high pressing game with a lot of energy and that quality in the final third of the pitch? That's what I'd like to see from them today."

Pre-match quotes from Mauricio Pochettino

On his team's mindset going into the match: "We've moved on from last weekend (the loss to Manchester City). The team is focused now. We are going to have a massive battle against Burnley. It will be so difficult but we are ready."

On Harry Winks' absence from the matchday squad: "He has a minor problem in his ankle. It's not possible for him to be available for today."

On Burnley's impressive start to the season: "They are doing fantastically. I want to congratulate them. It is a massive challenge for us, completely different to last week. We've moved on from that. We need to compete and be better."
