Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Follow the latest updates from the Premier League live as Manchester City travel to Bournemouth.

Pep Guardiola’s resources are depleted with Fernandinho and Aymeric Laporte both out injured, while Sergio Aguero has complained of exhaustion, but Gabriel Jesus and John Stones are both back and fully fit.

Bournemouth are struggling for form after such an impressive first half of the season, so a shock win against the champions would be a timely boost. Follow it live:

GOAL! Burnley 0-3 Crystal Palace (Wilfried Zaha, 76 minutes)

Game, set and match for Crystal Palace!

A forgettable afternoon for Sean Dyche.

Wilfried Zaha twists this way and that, moving the ball brilliantly to create space and firing past  Tom Heaton. Brilliant.

GOAL! Manchester United 2-2 Southampton (James Ward-Prowse, 75 minutes)

Another stunner!

James Ward-Prowse's set piece prowess is well-known, and the Southampton midfielder shows his ability with the dead ball from 25 yards, curling over the wall and into the top corner.

Top goalkeeping.

GOAL! Brighton 1-0 Huddersfield (Florin Andone, 79 minutes)

Big goal at the bottom, Brighton lead!

Anthony Knockaert curls a gorgeous cross onto Florin Andone's head and the Romanian heads home with a controlled glance.

That goal should drag Brighton clear of real strife for the time being with Cardiff losing...

Off the crossbar!

What an effort!

City are coming closer and closer to a second, Sergio Aguero audaciously trying to loft over Artur Boruc with the goalkeeper off his line, coming oh-so-close, Boruc just about recovering to touch on to his crossbar and away.

Manchester United 2-2 Southampton, 85 minutes

Five minutes left in the 90 at Old Trafford, and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has swapped Brazilians.

The rarely sighted Fred replaces the impressive Andreas Pereira.

GOAL! Burnley 1-3 Crystal Palace (Ashley Barnes, 89 minutes)

A consolation for Burnley.

Wayne Hennessey doesn't cover himself in glory as Ashley Barnes beats him to the ball and heads past the onrushing Crystal Palace goalkeeper to restore a little Burnley pride.
