United have had one comeback in Ruben Amorim's brief reign, against Bodo/Glimt. Time to see if they can muster another. Bruno Fernandes has halved the deficit, continuing his eventful evening. Joshua Zirkzee has just come on but it was instructive that Amorim's double change earlier was to take two defenders off. No surprise Leny Yoro was one of them, as United try to ease him back after injury, but perhaps damning that Matthijs de Ligt's number was up.

Even more notable that Fernandes has just gone off when he seemed United's best chance of an equaliser.

Andre Onana had an awful autumn of 2023, littered with errors. He has been arguably United's best player in the first half of this season. Until that mistake. Morgan Gibbs-White's shot swerved but it was still very saveable. Not for Onana, however.

Not that errors are confined to him, either. Lisandro Martinez seemed to think Chris Wood's header was going wide. Instead it went in and Forest lead 3-1.

Dalot down the left and that’s a glorious ball with Fernandes sprinting into range.

Ugarte picks up the ball on the edge of the area, but Forest crowd him out and launch a dangerous counter-attack.

It’s stood up to the back post and... GOAL! Chris Wood with a header!

It was looping but with no read pace, Martinez could easily have cleared, but just... didn’t??

Bizarre again from United and it’s an awful hole they’ve dug themselves here. 1-3.
