The 2023/24 Premier League season is under way and you can follow every game and every goal right here with The Independent.

This year sees Manchester City try to defend their crown and claim a historic fourth title in succession. Pep Guardiola’s all-conquering City, who also won the Champions League and FA Cup last season, will have to see off Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester United, Liverpool and the rest to claim an unprecedented sixth league title in seven years.

Meanwhile Luton Town are making their first appearance in the Premier League, having risen from non-league in an incredible decade of progress. They followed Championship winners Burnley and second-placed Sheffield United in earning promotion to the top flight.

Follow the latest action from the Premier League below.

Damsgaard fires on goal after solid transition work from Wissa, and it goes through Osho's legs at pace, forcing a fine low stop from Kaminski. The Belgian parries slightly, but dives on it before the following Lewis-Potter can get anywhere near. Great goalkeeping.

Looking back at that Wissa first half double: that was the first time since playing Tottenham in their opening Premier League game this season, where Brentford have scored more than once in the first half. It's taken 32 games since that one for a first half double in any capacity.

Berry commits a cynical fould on the left side, going straight through the back of his man on the touchline. Lucky to get away without a card. The ball comes in and Collins rises. However, it's not a strong connection and Kaminski has a goal-kick coming.

Luton look good in possession here and it's slotted out left to Chong. He drives a curling low cross in for Berry to run to, yet a Brentford foot puts it behind for a corner on the left. That's dealt with by the travelling Bees and then the resulting Doughty cross gets caught by Flekken.

Clark fouls Wissa as frustrations seap in, especially after the Doughty decision wasn't given. Clark just gets a warning after leaving the scorer facedown on the turf.

A Doughty drive down the left ends with him on the floor. He remains there without a foul, much to the distaste of the crowd, and Brentford break onwards with Wissa and Co. looking continuously deadly. It's worked right and held up for Mbuemo but the hosts can nod it away.

While that previous move came to nothing, aside from a jostling battle between Pinnock and Osho, Brentford surge on with Mbuemo. He is constantly looking like a danger. Luton manage to get it away with Doughty after he can't get his shot away clearly.

We're back in action here and Brentford are instantly looking to get in behind and win a corner after an industrial Mengi clearance.

After some likely sharp words of encouragement from Edwards, Luton have it all to do against Thomas Frank's mercurial Wissa-driven Bees. After that goalless first half for the hosts, it signalled the fact they've failed to score a first-half goal in 23 of their 34 games. Only Sheffield United (25) have failed to score more often in the English Premier League this season. In this decisive second period, the next goal will be important. Luton are looking to better their first half xG of 0.34. This is dwarfed hugely by the visiting side, as they hold an xG of 1.63. The half-time probablities see a Luton win ranked at 1.8 per cent where Brentford's wining chance is 91.0 in vast comparison. As the teams emerge fore the second half, Edwards has gone for a change...
