Manchester United continue to chase Sporting midfielder Bruno Fernandes to the point that the player’s agent is travelling to the UK to hold official talks with the Premier League club over a move. Arsenal meanwhile have been offered the chance to sign Barcelona forward Malcom, but the club remain focused on landing Wilfried Zaha from Crystal Palace and have reportedly pleaded with owner Stan Kroenke for more funds in order to get the move over the line.
Manchester City have strengthened their Premier League title-winning squad with the announcement of £62.5m signing Rodri from Atletico Madrid, while Leicester City have signed Ayoze Perez from Newcastle United in a £30m deal. Tottenham have made the biggest splash of the window so far with club record signing Tanguy Ndombele following Leeds’ Jack Clarke through the door in north London as Mauricio Pochettino looks to rebuild his Champions League finalists. The Daily Mirror reports that Barcelona have offered Brazilian winger Malcolm to Arsenal on loan but the Gunners preferred choice is to sign Crystal Palace winger Wilfried Zaha this summer.
Malcolm has struggled for form and fitness since his €40m move to the Camp Nou from Bordeaux last summer and would provide a far cheaper alternative to Zaha who is currently on international duty at the Africa Cup of Nations with the Ivory Coast.
Transfer confirmed: La Liga outfit Villarreal have confirmed the signing of Napoli defender Raul Albiol on a three-year contract.
Albiol, 33, cost Villarreal a fee in the region of €4m after spending the last six years playing in Serie A.

Valencia are set to pay Celta Vigo €16m plus forward Santi Mina, 23, for Gomez. Celta will also receive a player on loan from Valencia.
Celta also confirmed the arrival of Gabriel Fernández from Uruguayan club Peñarol who has signed a five-year contract and is seen as Gomez's replacement.
Transfer confirmed: Gianluigi Buffon has completed his emotional return to Juventus just one year after leaving Turin to sign for PSG.
The 41-year-old becomes Juve's third free transfer signing of the summer following Aaron Ramsey and Adrien Rabiot to the club.
Buffon made 24 appearances for PSG last season but his poor performance in the Champions League against Manchester United played a major role in PSG's elimination.

Arsenal full-back Nacho Monreal is set to sign a one-year contract extension with the Gunners, quashing rumours he was ready to quit the club, according to the Sun.
Monreal, 33, joined Arsenal in January 2013 and has won three FA Cups during his time in north London.
The Sun reports that the Spaniard is set to remain on his current wage of £65,000-a-week and the club hold an option to extend his contract for a further year still.
Arsenal have confirmed that David Ospina has joined Napoli for a fee of around £4m.
Ospina joins the Italians after making 24 appearances for the club on loan last season - one fewer than would've activated an obligation to buy.
Napoli hoped to negotiate a lower fee, however, Arsenal have stood firm in order to receive the full amount.
Ospina made 70 appearances for the Gunners, who he joined in 2014.
