From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

Welcome to our live coverage of today’s latest transfer news, gossip and done deals as we bring you the very latest rumours from the likes of Manchester United, Liverpool, Arsenal and more.

The biggest transfer story of the window has, of course, been Manchester United’s interest in Sporting Lisbon skipper Bruno Fernandes. After weeks of little movement we are expecting that story to progress significantly in the next 48 hours, as United move to bolster their injury-hit squad. One of Wednesday’s most intriguing rumours was that Daniel Levy has contacted Real Madrid about potentially bringing Gareth Bale back to the club on loan. The Welshman would be open to the move and Real are desperate for him to leave the club – but will Spurs be able to afford his staggering wages, even if partially subsidised by the Spanish giants?

Meanwhile, Liverpool have been fairly active this month and could move for a third younger player while also continuing to monitor Timo Werner, who appears increasingly open to a move to Anfield. And Chelsea are also chasing a new striker and expect the Premier League rivals to clash over the next few days as they pursue similar transfer targets. So stick with us and follow all of the latest transfer news, gossip and done deals live below.

United and Chelsea have both been linked with Dinamo and Spain star Dani Olmo. There could also be some big moves across Europe. Real Madrid have been linked with a £68m move for Timo Werner, as well as Flamengo wonder kid Reinier, while Arsenal have turned their eyes to RB Leipzig’s Dayot Upamecano as a long-term target.

Mundo Deportivo report that Barcelona have narrowed down their shortlist of strikers to replace the injured Luis Suarez to four.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Rodrigo, Fernando Llorente and Olivier Giroud are the strikers under consideration.

Quique Setien admitted: "It's true that we're evaluating our options for a new No 9."

Juventus and Inter will go head to head for the signing of Tahith Chong.

Tuttosport believe the Old Lady will rival Inter, who have already begun negotiations with the Dutch starlet's agent.

Chong will become a free agent this summer with the 20-year-old making just four appearances since initially joining United's youth team in 2016, with a first team debut under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer in January 2019.

West Ham have made an offer to sign Steven N'Zonzi from Roma.

RMC report the 31-year-old could join the Hammers, but he is also waiting to see if a club in Europe tables a counter offer.

The move would see the former Stoke midfielder join on loan, with his current loan to Galatasaray set to be terminated.

Lyon are on the brink of signing Tino Kadewere from Le Havre, according to RMC.

OL will pay €15m for the 24-year-old with the Zimbabwean set to move back to the Ligue 2 side on loan.

If the move goes ahead, then it will be the second striker to arrive at OL this week, after Karl Toko Ekambi from Villarreal, with the club also adamant they will keep hold of Moussa Dembele, despite reported interest from Chelsea and Man United.

RB Leipzig have made a €23m offer for Dani Olmo.

The Spanish midfielder, currently at Dinamo, has been a target for AC Milan.

But Mundo Deportivo claim talks are underway between the German club and the Croatians, who want around €25m to release the 21-year-old.

Real Madrid will continue to shop at Flamengo in the future after striking a £25m deal to sign Reinier.

The Spaniards have also wrapped up a first refusal for Lincoln, claim Mundo Deportivo. The player shone for Brazil Under-20s and featured against Liverpool at the Club World Cup.

Lincoln will not be moving just yet though, having already penned a long-term deal with the Rio-based club, which contains a £45.5m release clause.

Flamengo have brought in Thiago Maia from Lille on an 18-month loan.

The 22-year-old centre-midfielder joined the French club from Santos in 2017 but has failed to make the step up.

The option to buy is set at around €8-9m.

Marcus Rashford is "touch and go" for Euro 2020 as he battles to recover from a stress fracture of the back, according to one leading medical professional.

The Manchester United and England striker has predicted he will be back in action for United before the end of the campaign but his recovery time remains unclear.

Johnny Wilson, clinical director at 108 Harley Street, believes the forward is facing a race against time to be fit for England's Euro 2020 opener against Croatia at Wembley on June 14.

"In the Premier League there have been seven players over the last 10 years that have reported the same injury as Rashford.

"Their average return-to-playing timeframe was 133 days. Today the Euros are 142 days away, so it is touch and go. He has a chance but everything has to go right."

Jurgen Klopp has no intention of allowing any player to leave Liverpool in what remains of the transfer window.

Sevilla and Roma made tentative approaches regarding a loan deal for Xherdan Shaqiri, who is currently not fit, but the Reds boss said the plan was for no one to leave as the Premier League leaders seek to secure their first title in 30 years.

"We had the majority of December and January with a bench full of kids. Wonderful kids, but kids, so how could we think about giving a player to anyone? I don't understand that," said Klopp.

"It's not about Shaq, it's pretty much everybody. We just have to keep them for sorting our situation and not the situation for different clubs. If someone came around the corner and asked properly... but that didn't happen.

"Maybe they are desperate, whatever, and we think, but there is absolutely no intention from our side to do anything."

To Leeds where their search for a new No 9 has suffered another blow.

It's being widely reported that a third loan-to-buy bid for Che Adams has been knocked back by Southampton in what should represent an end to that particular saga.

Leeds were said to have promised to pay £20m for the former Birmingham City striker if they are promoted this season but there's nothing doing and they will again look elsewhere.

Marcelo Bielsa is set to get hold of Manchester City winger Ian Poveda, however, with a deal set to be concluded this week.
