Tottenham gave their season a much-needed shot in the arm with a 5-0 demolition of Red Star Belgrade in the Champions League.

It has been a horrible start to the campaign for Mauricio Pochettino's men, who had only won three games before this, but they put all their problems behind them in a pulsating display in Group B.

Harry Kane and Son Heung-min both scored twice while Erik Lamela had a red letter day on his 200th appearance for the club, adding a second-half goal to his two assists.

Pochettino, who has admitted his job could be on the line if their slump continues, will hope this can be the start of a resurgence, though that will be put to the immediate test in their next game when they visit Liverpool in the Premier League.

It has to be said that Red Star, who somehow were supported by over 200 fans despite a ban by UEFA, were not up to much, but Spurs were simply too hot to handle and produced a result that went some way to righting the wrongs of that 7-2 humiliation at the hands of Bayern Munich last time out.

It also had importance in their ambitions of making it out of the group as they now move into second place and will fancy their chances of progressing.

Early team news

Christian Eriksen could be in contention for a returne to the Tottenham squad after missing the 1-1 draw with Watford on Saturday.

Michel Vorm did not train with Spurs yesterday after joining the squad on a short term basis so he is unlikely to feature but Giovani Lo Celso is said to have recovered his fitness and is potentially ready to go.

Hope. The Champions League is back in North London:

Tottenham had a spectacular run in the Champions League last season. Reaching the final before losing to Liverpool in Madrid.

They've started this campaign poorly however, with one point out of their first two games. A defeat tonight could effectively see their campaign all but over as they would be five points behind the Serbian champions.

Mauricio Pochettino's men have been poor in the Premier League as well, with just three wins in nine games and the manager believes his sides dip in form is due to the extra pressure because of last year's Champions League run.

"The expectation changed after the Champions League final and that is why the situation looks worse," he said.

"The most important thing is to build our confidence again."

It's a must win game for Tottenham but do they have what it takes to overcome Red Star Belgrade? Here's what we think:

The players are arriving at the stadium, I bet they've had quite a different journey than our own Miguel Delaney.

The Serbian club have been banned from selling tickets to their fans as a punishment for racism:

A couple of Red Stars players will be familiar with the English conditions tonight.

Midfielder Marko Marin spent four years at Chelsea, although he only made 16 appearances for the club and spent most of his time there out on loan.

Rajiv van la Parra played in the Premier League. He played for Huddersfield but left to join Red Star on transfer deadline day.

So they got experience but can they live up to a Champions League night in North London?
