Zinedine Zidane’s team are trailing the league leaders by six points and the Real boss says Atletico are clear favourites heading into the derby. Atletico also have a game in hand and have only conceded twice all season in the league, without losing a game so far.
Both sides won last time out, with Real defeating Sevilla and Atleti seeing off Real Valladolid, and in midweek the Spanish giants were also successful in winning their Champions League games.
Eden Hazard will miss out for Real through injury once more, but Karim Benzema has been in magnificent form of late - yet still faces a big task to get past the league’s best defence and Jan Oblak.
The match kicks off at 8pm and you can follow all the latest updates from the Madrid derby below.

FULL TIME
That’s the whistle and that’s the points for Real! They move up to third, above Villarreal, but still three points behind Atletico who have a game in hand.
It’s a vital win for Zidane’s team and it caps off a very good week for them with three big results.
FOUR MINUTES ADDED ON
Closing stages of the match and Real in total control. Simeone’s side will be hugely annoyed at their performance level tonight, but they’ll remain top regardless.
90’ - Real 2-0 Atletico
Very nearly three, right at the end. Benzema tees up Lucas on the overlap and he hammers a shot goalwards - fine save from Oblak to tip it over.
86’ - Real 2-0 Atletico
Lemar with another great run, drifting past a couple of challenges and shooting from the edge of the box - but it’s over the bar.
Real sub: Valverde on for Modric

Real sub: Valverde on for Modric
82 - Real 2-0 Atletico
Great run from Lemar and he finds Saul at the far post with his cross - but the midfielder’s header, though on-target, is parried out by Courtois. About the closest Atletico have come to a goal, that.
Real subs: Rodrygo and Asensio on for Carvajal and Vinicius Jr
78’ - Real 2-0 Atletico
Zinedine Zidane now turns to his bench to see the game out. Heading into the final 10 minutes, it has been a relative stroll for Real since that second goal went in.
74’ - Real 2-0 Atletico
Final throw of the dice for Simeone. Llorente will push up top along with Correa now. Vinicius Jr is barged about five rows into the stands but no foul is given, then Savic studs Benzema in the calf but isn’t shown a second yellow. Atletico might just be losing their discipline here - the game looks gone. They have been very poor indeed.
Atleti sub: Kondogbia on for Suarez
