From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Follow live coverage and reaction after Manchester City thrashed Watford to win the FA Cup to win the domestic treble.

Pep Guardiola’s City side clinched the League Cup in the same stadium in March, beating Chelsea in a penalty shootout, and sealed their second successive Premier League title last weekend.

A dazzling display of attacking football saw them prove far too good for the overmatched Hornets. Here's how it played out:

42 mins: Man City 2 - 0 Watford

I think Man City may run away with the game now. Things don't seem to be falling for Watford.

Kompany makes a vital interception as Watford threaten to break.

45+1 mins: Man City 2 - 0 Watford

Hughes has a shot blocked, Femenia then takes a shot and wins a corner. Holebas delivers the corner and Ederson spills it, Deulofeu puts it back in but City clear. Walker tries to break but Holebas makes the tackle.

There's a serious amount for Watford to do in the second half. The stats don't read well for them either.

The teams come back out onto the pitch as the second half is about to get underway.

SECOND HALF: Man City 2 - 0 Watford

City restart proceedings. Watford have it all to do but if they go all out attacking then City will rip through them and score more.

48 mins: Man City 2 - 0 Watford

Watford press high up the pitch but don't get a shot off. Sterling turns sharply with the ball and City cut Watford open. Sterling gives it to Jesus who shoots but Gomes saves.

The corner comes in, is headed away but City put the ball back into the box and Jesus heads it into the goal only to be caught offside.

51 mins: Man City 2 - 0 Watford

A brilliant run from Deulofeu brings the ball forward and he gives it to Pereyra. Pereyra tries to give him the ball back but his pass is poor. Watford have started the second half really well.

54 mins: Man City 2 - 0 Watford

Holebas throws a long ball into the box but Ederson punches it away. Femenia puts a ball into the box and Pereyra tries to head it towards goal but only gets a glancing touch on the ball.

57 mins: Man City 2 - 0 Watford

Riyad Mahrez has had a good game, he's torn Holebas apart on the right wing but his match is over now as Kevin de Bruyne comes on.

He makes an impact straight away whipping the ball into the box but Cathcart clears it behind for a corner.

60 mins: Man City 2 - 0 Watford

The goal kick comes forward and Watford head the ball over the defence into Deulofeu who makes a good run. He hits it first time but sends it well wide of goal.

David Silva loses the ball and sticks his arm out to bring down Hughes and gets booked for his effort.
