From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

Aston Villa drew with Sheffield United as the 2019/20 Premier League season resumes.

After 98 days football in England returned to the field with Villa hoping to get a result to kickstart their push for safety at Villa Park. The Blades have far loftier ambitions and will have their eyes on an unlikely Champions League qualification place should things break right for them between now and the end of the season.

The match was an even affair blighted by controversy as goal-line technology appeared to miss the ball go over the line in the first-half denying Sheffield United a certain goal.

Man City 3 - 0 Arsenal

90+7 mins: Lacazette makes a run on the left wing and gets into the box. He squares the ball but Foden clears the danger.

Arsenal hunt for a consolation goal. Nelson works his way into the box and wins a corner as his tries to find Aubameyang in the centre of the area.

Man City 3 - 0 Arsenal

90+11 mins: Arsenal started the match quite well. They were hit with two early injuries in the first half and things never recovered. David Luiz came on and had an absolute shocker. Man City picked up their quality and began to dominate. Mistakes from David Luiz led to the first two goals and some quality link up work between Sterling and Aguero finishing things off. Aubameyang was absent for most of the game through no fault of his own, Arsenal just wilted as the game went on.

So what do today's matches do to the Premier League table. Man City remain second, still 22-points behind Liverpool, Arsenal remain a point above Burnley in ninth place.

In the earlier game Aston Villa held Sheffield United to an unexciting 0-0 draw after some dubious goalline technology denied the Blades the opening goal.

The Blades move up to sixth with Villa still 19th.

Injuries abound in the clash between Arsenal and Man City. First Xhaka and Mari had to be taken off for Arsenal then Eric Garcia was crunched by his own goalkeeper.

The good news is that Eric Garcia is conscious and is probably on his way to hospital.
