Over the break it was one of their stars in Jack Grealish who was making all the headlines, shining with England and quickly becoming a favourite of the national team’s fans.
Domestically, Villa have won five of their seven games so far and a win will take them level with Leicester City, who went into the break top of the table.
Brighton have struggled to find an end product to go with their at-times excellent build-up play and have just one win from eight games so far, 16th in the table at the start of play. Follow the end of Newcastle vs Chelsea and the build-up to the game at Villa Park below:

Werner has the ball in the net, but the flag is up for offside. Ziyech plays him in on goal and he rounds the goalkeeper cleverly, before prodding into an empty net. He just strayed beyond the last defender, though, so he’s denied a goal today.

Newcastle bring on Andy Carroll for Saint-Maximin, which suggests a route one approach for the remainder of the game.

Off the bar! Newcastle work a corner out to Longstaff, who drills a shot towards the top left corner. It’s a brilliant effort and Mendy gets nowhere near it. But it cannons off the woodwork.

Chelsea are comfortable now and heading for the top of the Premier League table. Newcastle, meanwhile, will be the subject of more criticism after today, and unsurprisingly given how turgid and unambitious their football has been.

Brilliant from Werner! He collects the ball in his own half, accelerates past several Newcastle players and makes his way to the edge of the box. It seems certain he’ll shoot, but instead he plays a perfectly-weighted pass through to Abraham, who slots his finish low and in off the post. That’s probably game over.

Abraham almost escapes through on goal as Chelsea break quickly, but he’s crowded out before he can shoot.

Frank Lampard looks increasingly stern and pensive on the touchline. His side’s lead is still narrow, despite several clear chances, and Newcastle are just starting to show signs of improvement.
NEWCASTLE 0-1 CHELSEA (60’)
Another chance for Newcastle. Saint-Maximin creates some space on the left and picks out Joelinton, who has time to pick his spot from the edge of the box. But his shot is poor, guided over the bar. Newcastle might be growing in confidence but the finishing has been dismal so far.
