Follow live coverage as Ipswich Town face Newcastle United today in the Premier League. Another top-flight season will be covered in full right here with The Independent, as reigning champions Manchester City look to make it an unprecedented five titles in a row come the end of 2024/25.

The likes of Arsenal and Liverpool will be chasing Pep Guardiola's side, but just as fascinating will be the race for Champions League places, with more teams than ever before having designs on top-four finishes. Chelsea remain big-spending, Manchester United's latest rebuild continues and both Tottenham and Newcastle will expect improvements this year - yet it was Aston Villa who snared fourth last term.

Meanwhile, it's Southampton, Leicester City and Ipswich Town who made it back to the elite after promotion last year and each will have hope they can make it more than a one-year stay. Follow the latest live action from the Premier League below:

SHOULD BE FIVE! Willock blazes over inside the area after being found by Gordon. This is getting embarrassing for Ipswich, who still have to deal with this rampant Newcastle side for a further 35 minutes plus injury time.

Newcastle are set to register their third win in succession following this impressive performance in East Anglia so far. Ipswich have just not been at the races this afternoon and McKenna will be hugely disappointed with the performance of his side following that crucial win at Wolves last week. Second half is just moments away.....

Newcastle hold a three-goal advantage at the break away to Ipswich after a dominant first half performance. They were handed the dream start after just 30 seconds when Isak fired home past Muric after a good work by Murphy. It had originally been given offside due to the winger's run, but VAR awarded the goal after a lengthly delay. The Magpies had opportunities to double the lead but Gordon and Isak both missed from close-range. They did eventually make it 2-0 after a powerful shot from the impressive Murphy and Isak virtually ended the contest before half-time as he grabbed his second following a brilliant interception from Guimaraes in the Ipswich penalty area to nick the ball off Cajuste after an ill-judged pass from Muric. Eddie Howe's side have generated an xG of 1.82 to Ipswich's 0.29.
