Follow live coverage as Ipswich Town face Newcastle United today in the Premier League. Another top-flight season will be covered in full right here with The Independent, as reigning champions Manchester City look to make it an unprecedented five titles in a row come the end of 2024/25.

The likes of Arsenal and Liverpool will be chasing Pep Guardiola's side, but just as fascinating will be the race for Champions League places, with more teams than ever before having designs on top-four finishes. Chelsea remain big-spending, Manchester United's latest rebuild continues and both Tottenham and Newcastle will expect improvements this year - yet it was Aston Villa who snared fourth last term.

Meanwhile, it's Southampton, Leicester City and Ipswich Town who made it back to the elite after promotion last year and each will have hope they can make it more than a one-year stay. Follow the latest live action from the Premier League below:

Following a four-game winless run after the final international break, Eddie Howe's side were majorly on the slide but seem to have regained form after two comfortable victories at home - last week against Leicester with a 4-0 win and then a 3-1 victory over Brentford to send them into the semi-finals of the League Cup. Another win today would send the Magpies into the top half of the table, as they currently sit 12th and are desparate to avoid a season of midtable mediocrity. They are without an away win since a victory at Nottingham Forest in early November, having managed just a point on their last two travels, though they did a manage a 3-1 win in their last match at Portman Road in 2017, on their way to winning the Championship under Rafa Benitez.

Ipswich are coming off the back of a pricless victory against Wolverhampton Wanderers last time out, with Jack Taylor's injury time header handing them a 2-1 victory. Before that win, the Tractors Boys had struggled with one draw and three losses. They remain in the relegation zone, but now sit just two points off Leicester in 17th and a victory today would see them out of the relegation places at least until Leicester face Wolves on Sunday. Despite hard-fought draws to Manchester United and Aston Villa at home, Ipswich are the only side in the division without a victory on their own patch this season - a timely win in front of their own fans in the last match before Christmas would provide a major boost to their survivial hopes.
