They were handed the perfect start after 30 seconds when Isak fired home following an early run by Murphy. The goal was originally disallowed for offside but VAR awarded the goal on review. Murphy had a fine game and doubled the lead with a thumping effort before Isak scored again after naivety from Ipswich saw Guimaraes nick the ball from Cajuste after a poor pass from keeper Muric. Isak claimed a hat-trick early in the second half after being set up by a flick from Murphy. Newcastle generated an xG of 2.31 to Ipswich's 0.70, highlighting a superiority which was evident for the entire 90 minutes. Howe's men are up to seventh while Ipswich remain 18th.
