Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

Scotland will be looking to bounce back against San Marino after their humiliating 3-0 defeat at the hands of Kazakhstan.

After that shock upset, San Marino will certainly fancy their chances against Alex McLeish's side - despite being the lowest-ranked country in world football and having conceded 37 goals in their last ten matches.

Scotland must now secure a win to keep their hopes of automatically qualifying for Euro 2020 alive.

Bale proves he's still an accomplished defender, heading clear a dangerous Hamsik free kick. Slovakia have had far more of the ball over the last ten minutes but they're still wary of Wales' threat on the break.

Wales 1-0 Slovakia

39 minutes

Brooks has taken the limelight away from Bale so far. He collects the ball on the left, beats his man with a step over and then curls a shot that looks like it's heading for the top corner. It flies just wide, though, and Slovakia survive another scare.

One minute of added time will be played.

Callum Rice-Coates24 March 2019 14:46

Half time: The referee brings the first half to a close. It's been an impressive performance so far from Wales, who have been compact and disciplined in defence and energetic in attack. Slovakia, meanwhile, have had little more than half chances, and their back four have struggled to cope with the pace of Wales' forwards.

The only negative for Giggs and his players will be that they haven't scored more than once.
