From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. Northern Ireland welcome Austria to Belfast in what is effectively a dead-rubber in Group B3.

Northern Ireland will want to reclaim some pride nonetheless as Michael O’Neill’s side are yet to register a point, and are already guaranteed.

Austria drew 0-0 with runaway Group B3 Leaders Bosnia-Herzegovina on Thursday, but a squad that includes Bayern Munich’s David Alaba will want to finish off their Nations League campaign with a win. Follow it live:

GOAL! Northern Ireland 1-1 Austria (Corry Evans, 56 minutes)

That's much better!

Jordan Jones slips the ball inside to the onrushing Corry Evans who has broken free from his midfield trackers.

Evans gets right over his shot and fires it right into Martin Hinteregger on the slide, but the ball deflects off the centre half and loops past Heinz Lindner.

Northern Ireland end the goalscoring drought and are level in Belfast.

Northern Ireland 1-1 Austria, 59 minutes

A clever set piece routine from Northern Ireland nearly opens an opportunity up after George Saville is freed, but his drilled cross is just about cut out.

More energy in the game now, and that has brought the crowd into it. Austria look a little rattled.

Northern Ireland 1-1 Austria, 62 minutes

Northern Ireland went five hours and 50 minutes without a goal before Corry Evans provided the sweet relief and levelled things up at Windsor Park.

They've been on top since that goal, too, and look the more likely winners at this stage.

Northern Ireland 1-1 Austria, 64 minutes

Austria now come forward but a cross is too heavy for Michael Gregoritsch and David Alaba can't keep it in.

Goal kick.

Northern Ireland 1-1 Austria, 67 minutes

A diagonal from Aleksandar Dragovic can't find Valentino Lazaro, but the header away only reaches Michael Gregoritsch.

The big centre-forward lines up a left-footed drive which is headed wide, but Xaver Schlager has burst through to get into its path.

Northern Ireland claim offside but Schlager had timed his burst well, and the hosts are fortunate that the pace on the shot-come-pass makes it tough to control. The ball bounces off Schlager and out for a goal kick.

Northern Ireland 1-1 Austria, 70 minutes

David Alaba has gone to the right and cuts in. He lines up a long range, low strike that flies past the post about a yard and a half wide.

Here comes Marko Arnautovic - a straight swap for Michael Gregoritsch up front.

Northern Ireland 1-1 Austria, 72 minutes

Gavin Whyte and Kyle Lafferty will be Michael O'Neill's first two changes.

Both are stripped and ready ahead of the next break in play.

What a chance for David Alaba!

Marko Arnautovic is, unsurprisingly, an immediate threat, dragging players with him before weighting a pass into Alaba's path.

Alaba should do better, lifting his left-footed shot over the bar from inside the box.

Northern Ireland make their changes: Niall McGinn and Liam Boyce are the men replaced.

Northern Ireland 1-1 Austria, 75 minutes

Close!

It is an excellent effort from George Saville, contorting his body to volley with his weaker foot.

The ball just fades away past Heinz Lindner's outstretched right palm and looks to be headed for the corner, but on the hop it just drifts past the post.
