From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

Miranda snatched a stoppage time victory for Brazil against Argentina on a sweltering night in Saudi Arabia at the King Abdullah Sports City Stadium.

The experienced Inter Milan centre-back angled his header into the net at the near post from a corner to secure victory from what was otherwise a relatively drear affair.

Brazil fielded a strong line-up including Neymar, Phillipe Coutinho and Roberto Firmino yet they failed to take flight against an Argentinian team deprived of its artillery - Lionel Mesi, Sergio Aguero, Gonzalo Higuain and Angel Di Maria all missing out on the final leg in the country's Middle Eastern expedition.

Despite the defeat, Lionel Scaloni, Argentina's interim manager, may be the happier of the two managers after his team's gritty performance against a fuller-strength side. Perhaps, Argentina's national team are finally emerging from their protracted dark spell.
