Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference. It’s the final day of the Championship season and before the chaos of the play-offs takes hold next week, there is the small matter of deciding who goes up to the Premier League… and who drops down to League One.
Cardiff City know a win at home to Reading will see them return to the Premier League for the first time since 2014, but their opponents are not totally safe, sitting only two points above the drop zone in 19th.
Fulham will be waiting in the wings knowing they must win to capitalise on any slip-ups, although they are also playing a relegation-threatened side in Birmingham City.
At the other end of the table, there are five teams fighting to avoid the two final relegation places as Burton Albion and Barnsley are away to play-off chasing Preston North End and Derby County respectively. The final team involved are Bolton Wanderers, who are at home to Nottingham Forest.

Derby 2-0 Barnsley
55: Simple as you like for Vydra, who leapfrogs Grabban as the division's top scorer by tapping home from close range. Barnsley are safe as things stand but with Burton playing against ten men, things could change quickly.
Cardiff 0-0 Reading
55: Neil Warnock's side have dominated and the second half is following a similar pattern. Fulham are being held at arms length by Birmingham, so at the moment, their profligacy is immaterial

It could still all change in a flash. Bolton continue to push Forest who have nothing to play for, with Wanderers dominating proceedings. One goal and Burton are back in trouble! It's on a knife-edge
Also, Sunderland have scored AGAIN! Sunderland 3-0 Wolves, would you believe it.
