From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

While we're waiting for Jurgen Klopp's news conference, make sure you find the time to read this brilliant retrospective from Simon Hughes.

Liverpool’s famous win over Roma in the 1984 European Cup final was a glorious achievement that ranks among their finest, but it was also a match with tragic consequences in more ways than one...

It was a great night for Liverpool at the PFA Awards last night.

Mo Salah was named Player of the Year, and Jurgen Klopp is surely set to be asked about that today in his press conference later today.

The Reds' boss revealed though that he did not want the Egyptian celebrating too hard last night after his congratulations. He said: "And now, please grab the trophy and come home - we play on Tuesday! See you then."

Speaking of Salah and his PFA Player of the Year gong...

Miguel Delaney has given his take on the electric Egyptian and why he was the clear choice to receive the award - even ahead of Kevin De Bruyne. Read more:

Despite lifting the PFA POTY award, Salah was quick to outline his ambitions of lifting silverware with the team this season.

The Reds have the chance to do that as they come up against Salah's former club AS Roma in the Champions League semi-finals tomorrow. Read more from the Egyptian:

Liverpool head into the match with Roma after letting a two-goal lead slip to West Bromwich Albion, not the best preparation most will suggest.

Danny Ings and Salah (obviously) netted to put Klopp's men in firm control at the Hawthorns before late strikes from Jake Livermore and Salomon Rondon earned the Premier League's bottom club an unlikely point.

Remind yourself of the match by reading our report:

Following Liverpool's draw at the Hawthorns, defender Virgil van Dijk admitted that the Reds' were angry having let a two-goal lead slip

However, the Dutchman told that the same mistakes would not be repeated against Roma on Tuesday night. Read:

Speaking of Liverpool and Italian opponents...

The Reds announced earlier today that they would be facing Napoli in a pre-season friendly on the 4th of August. The game is to be played at the Aviva Stadium in Dublin.

Heading into the match with Roma, it would be a surprise to see that Jurgen Klopp has a poor record when it comes to facing Italian clubs.

With former club Borussia Dortmund, the German played two-legged Champions League ties against Juventus, Napoli and Udinese. In that time, he only notched one win - a 3-1 success over Napoli in the group stages in 2013. He lost the other five.

It would be fair to suggest that Roma will be trying their hardest to keep former player Mo Salah quiet at Anfield.

The Egyptian netted 34 times in his two seasons at the Stadio Olimpico. Roma midfielder Kevin Strootman has been chatting to Jack Austin and revealed that they have a special plan to silence the PFA Player of the Year.
